When Ponyboy band leader Michael Glenn’s father went missing in the fall of 2017, he was consumed by a sense of urgency and desperation. Despite the well-intentioned encouragement of family and friends that his dad had a habit of doing this and would eventually resurface as he had from every previous bender, Michael had a deep sense that this time was different, and that his window of opportunity to make his peace was closing. Michael began penning songs to his father with the intention of saying everything he needed to say while he still had time-that opportunity never came, as his father passed away a year later in September 2018. In the wake of this life-altering loss, he kept writing and was eventually joined in this effort by lifelong friends
and collaborators Andrew Sprague and Michael Urgin, and his brother Jesse Glenn. It was out of this process that "Electrician" was formed.
“Electrician”,Ponyboy’s debut LP, is an explosive study in dichotomy - at once a gushing love letter and a damning condemnation from son to father; a starkly intimate portrait of a troubled bond marked by both unconditional love and searing pain, and a complex retelling ranging from hushed, childlike awe to world-weary sardonic humor - sometimes in the same breath. Accompanied by pummeling drums, sizzling guitars, and growling lows, “Electrician” is a seven-year journey of inner turmoil, internal negotiations, and ultimately, a hope for a changed family legacy.
Hailing from Everett, WA, Ponyboy comprises of two brothers and their lifelong friends. Their music reflects the influence of a childhood spent around the 90’s grunge movement, an adolescence spent in the emo scene and a healthy appreciation for shoegaze and its offshoots.
