British indie trio Autoheart will release their fourth studio album, Heartlands, on August 15 via their own O/R Records through AWAL.

Produced by the band and mixed by Danton Supple (Coldplay, U2, Pet Shop Boys), Heartlands is pop for overthinkers: big feelings, bigger choruses, and the occasional dissociative episode. A little bit camp. Maybe a lot. It’s crying at the disco - with harmonies.

Today, they share the album’s second single, "Baby Bird" - a bittersweet anthem built on driving piano, chiming guitars and a soaring melodic line. It captures the moment between falling and flight, blending bright pop hooks with a raw emotional core. Nostalgic yet defiant, “Baby Bird” offers a glimpse into the world of Heartlands - an album shaped by the band’s recent sold-out U.S. tour and the personal reckonings that came with it.

Speaking about the single, the band explain: “'Baby Bird' is about surviving yourself. It’s about learning not to fear the fall - or even if you do, doing it anyway - and trusting that even if you f*** it up, given time, you’ll find your way again.”

Heartlands is a tribute to the landscapes they encountered on the road - neon-lit truck stops, weathered diners buzzing with late-night chatter, and long, quiet highways at dawn.

But it’s the fans - the Heartheads - who left the deepest mark. Heartlands is a love letter to them: a reflection of America as both real and imagined, part emotional reckoning, part dreamscape.

Our fans call themselves ‘Heartheads’, which is perfect,” says guitarist Barney JC. “They’re this incredible, artistic, supportive community who’ve sort of willed us into existence - they believed in us when no one else did, and made our music part of their lives and their own creativity. Heartlands is where we all live, spiritually speaking. Maybe it’s a kind of imagined queer refuge - a place of psychological escape where people like us can find each other. That feels more necessary than ever right now.

Autoheart have long defied classification, blending indie guitar hooks with lo-fi disco, soaring piano ballads and electronic textures. With over 3 million monthly Spotify streams and 5 million monthly YouTube views, they’ve built a devoted global following drawn to their open-hearted lyricism and fiercely independent ethos. Their 2021 viral hit “Stalker’s Tango” became a cult favourite in anime and cosplay circles, catapulting them onto global charts.

“Baby Bird” follows the success of their completely sold-out, 11-date U.S. tour in March 2024, which proved Autoheart’s rising momentum across the Atlantic. The Love Me Love Me Love Me tour cemented their reputation as a must-see live act.

Now, with Heartlands on the horizon, the band are set to return with their biggest North American headline run yet: The Heartlands Tour, beginning September 5. Tickets are on sale now [see dates below].
