#Live First Sold out Show for DeathbyRomy last night at the Pike Room

With overpriced parking lot fees and hot weather, this could only mean one thing. We are back at the Crofoot checking out another show. Last night, we crashed and thrashed at DeathbyRomy’s show in the Pike Room (upstairs of the Crofoot). The night was already set on a bit of a delay due to customs border issues, causing Romy to be late by several hours. Nonetheless, she was treated by her first sold-out show on the Hollywood Forever tour. Opening act Heffy warmed up the night, but to be real, they were already hot and ready to see and mosh with Romy.

She mainly played songs from her debut album, Hollywood Forever, but she did bring out Heffy for one of them. She was so excited at one point that a mosh pit was created during the song Crash, which had yet to see that happen so far on tour. Fans took their chances with flowers and roses during the song Saint. The common theme of the night was too hot to handle, physically, emotionally for some, and spatially. One of our personal favorites so far this year and a hard one not to miss. The tour is still going and tickets are available down below.

Rising alt-pop force DeathbyRomy debuts her new album HOLLYWOOD FOREVER out now via ONErpm. HOLLYWOOD FOREVER, Romy’s largest body of work to date, reflects on the highs and lows of growing up in LA, from dropping out of high school to dealing with exploitation by her first manager. The album is both a raw personal narrative and a love letter to the city that has shaped her, exploring the contradictions that simultaneously make LA so magnetic and brutal.

"I’ve been through a lot to get to this point," Romy says. “I wanted this record to feel like both a reckoning and a celebration. LA is my home, and this album is my love letter to it. It’s about all the contradictions, all the pain, but also all the beauty. I found my first manager and signed my first publishing deal at 17. At times I felt preyed on and used by the men and people around me. I realized that I had been consistently writing about Hollywood, the industry, and those feelings of being exploited. Without even consciously trying to make an album about that, I had been writing on that topic. So it became clear to me: that's the story I need to tell.”

Named after DeathbyRomy’s favorite LA cemetery - a place she would frequent growing up includes 13 thunderous tracks—which DeathbyRomy started to assemble after parting ways with her label in 2021—shine a fluorescent light on her experiences in Hollywood. The listener can see every detail: the singer’s euphoric wins, battle scars, and her triumphant comeback as an independent artist.

Romy also debuts a sultry music video for “LITTLE DREAMER” featuring her and friends at a strip club. “Little Dreamer is about the romantic relationship I’ve had with this dream of mine since I was a little girl. It’s my mom’s words and encouragement I’ve had echoing in my head like a song for as long I can remember. It’s a message for all the dreamers and the non-believers to not be afraid to dream. To dream limitlessly, against all odds”, explains Romy.

Additional singles off the album include “YUNG & RICH” featuring UK industrial duo Wargasm and genre-bending artist bodyimage crackles with the unapologetic rage of an outsider's experience to their silver-spooned peers. Born from a demo Romy penned at 19, the track weaponizes stomping basslines and sneering vocals to eviscerate the wealthy LA teens who flaunted their parents’ cash while she hustled to survive.

With sharp, biting lyrics like “Concrete Cocaine, Fake Tits Migraines, Fake Friends, Fake Numbers,” her single "LA LA LAND” is a daring critique of Los Angeles—both its intoxicating allure and its darker, more virulent undercurrents. It’s a track brimming with the kind of stark, disillusioned honesty that could only come from someone who’s lived through the city’s grime and glamour in equal measure.

Rounding out the album is the raw and unrelenting anthem of love and obsession, “PRAY TO ME”, sees DeathbyRomy joining forces with longtime friends Palaye Royale for a collaboration that’s as gritty as it is seductive. The track is a passionate, angst-driven declaration of devotion, drenched in emotional intensity and brimming with shadowy energy. “This album tells my story and the lessons I learned growing up into ‘DeathbyRomy’. explains Romy.

For all of the pain Romy pours into HOLLYWOOD FOREVER, she still loves this city with all of her soul and has arrived at a place of genuine optimism and freedom. She hopes fans will feel electrified, sexy and powerful as they absorb the album’s cathartic energy. “Though there are dark themes and undertones, there's this big element of hope and hunger for this dream that is DeathbyRomy. Through this album, I got to speak candidly about how the industry views and treats women and many of the things I went through to get to this point in my project.  But ultimately, I just want people to dance, have fun, and feel a euphoric release while listening to HOLLYWOOD FOREVER.”

DeathbyRomy is taking her cinematic chaos on the road with her first solo North American headline tour, She’ll also ignite the stage at Warped Tour Orlando later this year, and a European tour in July.

ABOUT DeathbyRomy:

Often described as ‘the love-child of Lady Gaga and Marilyn Manson’, DeathbyRomy pours both pain and euphoria into her catchy alternative music, pitting pop melodies and propulsive trap beats against industrial & metal production, hypnotic vocals, and deeply personal lyrics. Dropping out of school at age 15 due to relentless bullying over her unique style and appearance, DeathbyRomy began releasing music in 2018 and soon found countless fans turning up to her shows adorned in her signature eye makeup. In 2022, DeathbyRomy released her first independent project 'Entropy', followed in 2023 by her first-ever tour which found her supporting The Used & Pierce the Veil across 14 US states. This year, DeathbyRomy has taken the world by storm with a 2-month tour across North America with Set it Off and Crown the Empire, opening for Babymetal in Europe and playing at some of the world’s biggest festivals including Download, Austin City Limits, Graspop, Rock for the People and many more. In 2024 DeathbyRomy also released singles such as ‘XXXHIBITIONIST’ which racked up half a million streams in its first month, a testament to the strength of her project as an independent artist and the rise of DeathbyRomy’s fandom, collectively referred to as ‘Team Death’. Keep an eye out for a very special string of announcements this year as 2025 will be DeathbyRomy’s busiest year yet.
