DAFFO Shares New Single "Quick Fix"

DAFFO
RELEASES NEW SINGLE “QUICK FIX”
TOUR DATES WITH BLONDSHELL & ANI DIRUSSO ANNOUNCED
PEST / CRISIS KIT LP OUT NOW ON CONCORD RECORDS
Daffo, the moniker of Brooklyn-based artist Gabi Gamberg, releases a poignant new single today titled “Quick Fix.” The track finds Gamberg describing the way their temporary comforts ultimately lead to prolonged suffering. Detailing guilty but empty pleasures from cigarette smoking to one-night stands, the song is both visceral and gentle, a sonic testament to Gamberg’s inner battle to understand and forgive themselves.
“This song is about the temporary ways in which I comfort myself, habits that ultimately lead to more suffering,” Gamberg explains. “I started the song before I went on my first tour. The first verse, about eating junk and smoking, I squeezed out during a very intense writer's block. On tour, I quit smoking for my voice. When I came back from tour I still couldn’t write, until one day I started smoking again. That day I was able to finish the song, my slight regression became fuel for the rest of the words.”
“Quick Fix” follows the release of “Absence Makes the Heart Grow,” a collaboration with veteran producer Rob Schnapf (Elliott Smith, Beck, Cat Power), a track that Beats Per Minute called “powerful” and Under The Radar praised as “infectious.”
Additionally, Daffo has announced a headline show at Brooklyn’s Baby’s All Right on June 13th and a play at Pitchfork Festival Paris on November 7th. Daffo recently wrapped a full US tour supporting illuminati hotties and is hitting the road this summer with dates announced supporting Blondshell and Annie DiRusso. Tickets for all shows are available now. All dates below.
Daffo’s Pest/Crisis Kit LP, which combines their 2021 debut EP with its 2023 follow-up, is out now via Concord Records.

“ABSENCE MAKES THE HEART GROW”
With a poetic specificity that cuts right to the heart, Daffo explores everything from shame and self-loathing to misplaced affection and the chaos of living with an overactive brain. As a kid growing up in the Philadelphia suburbs, Gamberg first started writing songs after taking up guitar at age 9, then later shaped their intimate yet frenetic sound by playing countless DIY shows in backyards and basements. At 16 they recorded the songs that eventually became the Crisis Kit—a five-song EP co-produced by Gamberg and friend and collaborator Hudson Pollock.
After graduating, Gamberg enrolled at the Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music at New York University and slowly made their way into the local DIY scene. As their community of fans began to grow, Gamberg downloaded TikTok on a whim and went viral with the second post they ever shared: a bedroom performance of a spontaneously composed song called “The Experiment.” The song later appeared as a bonus track on Daffo’s sophomore EP Pest, a brooding but tender project that revealed the full depth and power of their strangely poignant songwriting.
