Introducing: Elle Chante & 'Mean Something'
Introducing: Elle Chante
Mean Something
Today, emerging artist and producer Elle Chante shares her enchanting new release
‘Mean Something’. Arriving as a prelude ahead of her upcoming EP, Mean Something takes shape as a much anticipated teaser of what is to come.
Self produced and hauntingly beautiful, ‘Mean Something’ is a tender and impressive
keepsake born from an impossibly difficult time.
Standing out with alluring ambiance, the new upload pins Elle Chante as a powerful talent to watch. Reflective and cinematic, this latest endeavor is a testament to Elle’s ability in transforming darkness into radiance. Sharing more behind the single, Elle explained: “I think there's something incredibly harrowing about difficult experiences. When I was diagnosed with cancer, aside from the shock and questioning ‘why’, I was trying to make sense of this familiar feeling I had in the background. I realised that part of me expected it. Due to the struggles and hardships I’ve faced all through my life, I’ve come to expect them in some way.
Mean Something is about trying to understand why horrible things happen. I don't think everything has to have a silver lining and it's ok to exist in that painful, messy space where you don’t know why something happened, it’s about just taking things one step, or one second at a time.“
Mean Something is the first offering to be revealed from Elle’s upcoming, new EP. Since she launched, Elle has been consistently pushing boundaries with her multifaceted artistry. Originally developing her creative practice as a means of processing personal trauma, the ethos of music as therapy has remained integral to her work. Whispering of painful and complicated subjects in an airy tone and twisting metaphors, her music has been described as ‘ethereal, emotive and soothing’.
Elle released her debut EP ‘Into The Night’ back in 2022, which was championed by the likes of The Line of Best Fit, Ones To Watch, 1883 magazine and more. Since launching, her music has amassed over 7 Million streams and counting.
As well as turning heads with her solo endeavors, Elle’s unmistakable vocal talent has proved to be highly sought after by fellow artists. She has featured on tracks released by the likes of Pilot Records (UKF) and Liquicity. Through this process, she has explored genres from Drum and Bass and Deep house, all of which have led her towards the sound you hear today.
Born in London, Elle Chante grew up in the West Midlands, where she is based today.
Despite navigating numerous challenges with her physical and mental health, Elle's wealth of experience and achievements are a true testament to her innovation and creative gift.
Her talents span way beyond music and have seen her collaborate on a number of theatre and visual performance pieces, including her most recent venture: Accessible Dreamscapes, which was commissioned by Unlimited and The Glasshouse International Centre for Music in Newcastle. This took shape as an immersive musical performance which was also performed at London’s renowned South Bank Centre. It provided an invaluable insight into the disabled perspective through music and dance and was warmly received by its audience.
With significantly less opportunities being available to disabled artists, Elle’s achievements and resilience should not go unnoticed. As well as bringing much needed disabled representation to the music scene, she is also an ambassador of Attitude is Everything and the Featured Artists Coalition. In addition, is also a co-founder of Radical Body - an arts organisation that aims to make careers in the arts more accessible for disabled people.
With her other-wordly soundscape pulling inspiration from the likes of FKA Twigs, James Blake, Sleep Token and Apashe, Elle has cultivated a genre defying sound that boasts a special very quality.
With more music to follow this year, keep all eyes on Elle Chante.
