Today, Los Angeles electronic soul outfit ASHRR releases a new remix EP for “Please Don’t Stop The Rain,” one of the standout tracks from their album Sunshine Low, out last fall. The EP includes remixes from New York-via-Chicago house music legend Ron Trent, and two additional dancefloor-oriented ASHRR Soundsystem remixes. The release is out now via 20/20 Vision.

Ron Trent has been a key figure in the house music scene for over three decades, emerging from Chicago’s underground in the late '80s with his groundbreaking track "Altered States." As the co-founder of Prescription Records alongside Chez Damier, Trent helped define deep house with genre-blurring productions that incorporate elements of jazz, soul, and Afro-Latin rhythms. His innovative approach and global influence as a DJ have shaped dancefloors worldwide, from New York to Tokyo. Trent's legacy continues to evolve, and this new remix of “Please Don’t Stop The Rain” is a perfect example of his ever-expanding sound.

ASHRR, a Los Angeles-based trio featuring vocalist Steven Davis and producer-musicians Ethan Allen and Josh Charles, offers a unique blend of post-punk, space disco, and indie dance. Their sound evokes the imagery of “Roxy Music jamming with ESG in Central Park on a sunny Sunday,” and their music has garnered critical acclaim from outlets such as NPR and KCRW. Their 2024 album Sunshine Low and 2019 debut Oscillator have further established their place in the electronic soul scene with collaborations alongside dub pioneer Scientist and UK DJ Felix Dickinson.
