Today, visionary Australian act Empire of the Sun announce the inaugural lineup for Chrysalis, an upcoming three-day destination music festival featuring over 25 artists, three stages, and immersive experience in partnership with 100x Hospitality taking place May 14-16, 2026 at The Sculpture Gardens at Puerto Los Cabos, San Jose Del Cabo, Baja California.
Chrysalis introduces a musical program shaped to reflect the festival’s broader creative world, bringing together artists whose work spans electronic futurism, psychedelic instrumentation, exploratory pop and boundary-pushing live performance. The lineup is curated to move across tonal and stylistic landscapes, offering a weekend defined by contrast, texture and emotional range. Each artist contributes a distinct perspective that deepens the festival’s narrative arc and sets the stage for the transformative world Empire of the Sun have envisioned.
Alongside three unique sets by Empire of the Sun, lineup highlights include a DJ set from English duo Disclosure, kaleidoscopic rock visionaries The Flaming Lips, alt-pop innovators Magdalena Bay, and indie pop songwriter Del Water Gap. The billing continues with global electronic mainstays DJ Tennis and DJ Heartstring, genre-blending duo RIO KOSTA, Mexican retro-funk collective Midnight Generation, house stylists Walker & Royce and French-Mexican avantgarde performer ADANOWSKY. Rounding out the program are Peruvian electronic innovator Sofia Kourtesis, cinematic producer Aaron Hibell and dance-rock duo Roi Turbo, together forming a cross genre constellation that reflects the festival’s emphasis on imagination, emotion and transformation.
“Chrysalis is about imagination and rebirth. This festival is designed to be spirit immersive - where people leave transformed. The festival's story focuses on the circle of symbols - the door, the egg, key, wings and bell.
It's in the Chrysalis that these symbols communicate to us like a secret language - The Door, the threshold. The Key, the revelation. The Bell, awakening. Wings, the future self and The Egg, beginnings.
It's about creating a journey through music, art and spirit. In a world that is overflowing with distortion, it's time to let yourself be carried away.” - Luke Steele
Chrysalis unfolds within the secluded grounds of The Sculpture Gardens at Puerto Los Cabos, a sculptural landscape where desert flora, shaded pathways, and natural clearings shape the festival’s immersive environment. The venue offers a range of areas and experiences that reflect the creative and hospitality-forward ethos of Chrysalis— from Crania Reclaim, an extreme reclamation space built from salvaged materials where afternoon and late-night sets mingle with the ocean breeze, to the coastal reach of El Ganzo Beach Club and Veleros Beach Club, both offering serene waters and relaxed daytime exploration. Complementing these spaces will be local artisanal vendors, and A Taste of Cabo, a culinary program showcasing regional flavors through fresh seafood, street-style tacos, and Baja-inspired dishes crafted by local chefs, rounding out an experience where sound, art, and place merge seamlessly.
Set in the heart of San José del Cabo, Chrysalis invites guests to experience one of Baja California’s most captivating coastal destinations. The town pairs serene beaches with a thriving artistic community, offering galleries, culinary gems, and historic neighborhoods that expand the festival’s world beyond the gates of The Sculpture Gardens at Puerto Los Cabos. It’s a location defined by warmth, culture, and an effortless connection to nature — an ideal backdrop for a weekend of transformation.
Chrysalis offers the opportunity to customize your festival vacation experience in San José del Cabo, with packages ranging from all-inclusive resorts, to luxury & boutique hotels, and one of a kind experiences in a treehouse, glamping, or private villa. Beyond music, daily wellness programming encourages presence and renewal. Yoga, meditation, and guided restorative sessions create a gentle rhythm between the more energetic moments of the weekend, while optional off-site excursions provide opportunities to explore the region’s coastline, desert trails, and ecological wonders. Each element is crafted to support a holistic journey that honors both inner and outer landscapes.
Guests seeking deeper immersion into the world of Chrysalis can access elevated offerings through the Empyrean and Super Empyrean VIP packages, which include early entry, dedicated viewing, exclusive merchandise and intimate gatherings with Empire of the Sun's Emperor Steele. These moments offer rare insight into the stories, symbols and creative universe that have shaped Empire of the Sun’s legacy of worldbuilding.
Offering a natural canvas where art, sound and landscape intertwine, Chrysalis is more than a destination festival; it’s an invitation to step inside the imagination of an artist whose work has long blurred the lines between music, mythology and visual storytelling. In a time when the world is overflowing with distortion, Chrysalis offers a place to let yourself be carried away.

About Empire of the Sun
Empire of the Sun are the architects of one of music’s most visionary universes — a world where sound, art, and myth converge in radiant color. The Australian duo Luke Steele and Nick Littlemore create not merely albums, but entire worlds: portals of imagination where pop becomes celestial and the ordinary dissolves into the extraordinary. Their debut album, Walking On A Dream, launched a global phenomenon. Its title track became a generational anthem, now enshrined in Spotify’s Billions Club, and continues to inspire millions with its ethereal optimism and timeless spirit. Empire of the Sun’s melody, surrealism, and emotional gravity set a new bar for conceptual pop, earning multi-platinum certifications across the US, UK, and Australia and introducing the band’s unmistakable visual language to the world. From the cosmic adventures of Ice on the Dune to the lush futurism of Two Vines and the transcendental explorations of Ask That God, Empire of the Sun have consistently expanded the boundaries of what a music project can be. Their body of work — spanning 5 million albums sold, over 6 billion global streams, and a mantle of eight ARIA Awards and two APRA Awards — has cemented them as one of the most innovative and influential creative forces of the 21st century.
