Parisian indie-pop quartet LATER. are pleased to announce a brand new album with the arrival of 'Golden Bay' out 17th January and will be accompanied by a live session video for 'Cold Touch'.

This striking visual sets the tone for an album that delves into profound themes—exploring the sacred, the transformative power of music, and love as a gateway to an inner world. It offers a dreamlike escape into a world governed by instinct, passion, and freedom. ‘Golden Bay’ stands out with its distinctive fusion of electronic-pop, gospel, and rock influences. The prominent use of synthetic sounds intertwined with organic elements creates this warm feeling of being at the heart of Later.’s imagination. Lyrically, the album is infused with a blend of sensuality and raw honesty, retaining the unfiltered emotion that has become a hallmark of Later.’s music.
The band say: “This whole album was built like a trip. After our first album it was hard for us to figure out where we wanted to go musically. We never made as many demos and drafts- almost forty or fifty - for any release before. Then suddenly Paul played a guitar riff and we knew that something had been unlocked in our creative process, like a revelation, it later became our album opener ‘Open the Gates'. Everything escalated from this first melody and we began seeing the picture of what we wanted sonically: prominent synths creating this levitating feeling, powerful uplifting guitars and lyrics that captured the almost spiritual high we get when creating music. Every time we hit the studio, ‘Golden Bay’ became this sacred space—our escape where we could let go and liberate ourselves. Overall it’s a pop album, but it has this raw energy and carefree spirit that we wanted to preserve throughout the use of live sounds. Our biggest wish with this album is that the listeners embark on a trip and feel the way we do when we’re in the studio, at 3am, and we don’t want to stop because you have to catch these raremoments when inspiration strikes you, and you become the messenger of something beautiful.”
BIOGRAPHY
Some stories start in a rather unconventional way. When Charles, Paul, Noah and Theo met, they knew they had in common their passion for music. Reuniting every week in a studio in the bustling district of Pigalle, friendship and creation grew together punctuated by everlasting coffee-breaks and shares of dreams, ultimately forming the Later. band. The band is full of contradictions and has a thirst to stay out of the conventional schemes of the industry. English-speaking but French, their songs find inspiration in a variety of styles and eras (pop, soul, french-touch, rock…) in order to craft an intimate, spontaneous yet richly-produced music.
In 2019, their story draws attention of French label Kitsuné which releases their first single ‘L.Y.E’. Soon after, they engage with the label Cookie Records and sign two EPs and their debut album, played on multiple radios across Europe. The French news even compared them to Daft Punk in a special broadcast about the iconic duo. Only one year into the project. Their star track ‘Highway 10’ even gets played and shared from space by astronaut Thomas Pesquet on his last mission. Drawing the attention of major netflix shows ‘Emily in Paris’, ‘Never Have I Ever’; their debut album ‘Walking on the Line’ (2023) uncovered a mature band that refused to restrain themselves to a particular genre but offer their own authentic vision. Celebrated across Europe, their ‘Walking on the Line’ tour reached a high point with a sold-out show at Paris’ iconic venue, La Cigale.
Their sophomore album, "Golden Bay" is due for January 2025.
