Since release, ‘Bad Love God’ has picked up support across BBC Radio 1, press and DSP playlisting. Playing on her lush, melodic arrangements and poetic lyricism, the track arrived one day before Hope supported SZA at BST Hyde Park on June 29th.

'Bad Love God' is available now on all streaming platforms via PMR Records.

Speaking on the track, Hope Tala states:

Around the time I wrote ‘Bad Love God’ I was playing a lot of live shows and kept gravitating towards upbeat, intense songs that would be fun to sing on stage. Sometimes when writing a song I’m attempting to convey a personal experience in an authentic, sometimes brutal way that attempts to get as close to the bone of truth as possible. On other occasions something I feel becomes the inspiration for a story that then takes on its own life. ‘Bad Love God’ was written on a hot summer’s day when I was drawn to telling a dramatic tale inspired by the grip of having a new romantic obsession.

Drawing inspiration from a wide range of artists and genres, including Lauryn Hill, Erykah Badu, and Joni Mitchell, as well as her literary background playing a significant role in her songwriting, ‘Bad Love God’ reflects the influence of these rich artistic figures that have preceded her.

‘Bad Love God’ encapsulates the essence of Hope Tala’s distinctive sound, delivering a rich and engaging listening experience that highlights the best of both sides of her artistry. The track opens with Tala’s sweet, melodic vocals, drawing listeners into a soothing yet evocative soundscape. As the song progresses, she incorporates punchy, spoken word style segments that add depth and intensity, showcasing Hope Tala's versatility as a songwriter and vocalist.

Hope Tala's rising profile in the music industry has been marked by critical acclaim and a growing fanbase, all thanks to her distinctive sound and thoughtful approach to songwriting.

‘Bad Love God’ followed Hope’s first single of the year, ‘I Can’t Even Cry’, which came out in early April, and marked her return to the scene after a writing period in LA. Her comeback has been met with widespread praise and support, with fans and critics alike applauding the song's authenticity.

Hope Tala has been making waves in the music industry with her unique fusion of R&B, bossa nova, and pop. With her poetic lyricism and innovative sound, she has captured the hearts of fans and critics alike. Her previous works, including the acclaimed EPs ‘Sensitive Soul’ and ‘Girl Eats Sun’, have cemented her reputation as one of the most promising voices of her generation.

‘Bad Love God’ continues this trend, promising to resonate deeply with both long-time followers and new listeners. The song’s exploration of love and self-discovery, wrapped in a fresh and dynamic arrangement, is a testament to Hope Tala’s growth as an artist.
