#lastnight Niall Horan live at Pine Knob Theatre

We took the backseat, hung out with the fans last night, and enjoyed The Show starring Niall Horan at the Pine Knob Theatre. Was the aftermath of Hurricane Beryl making most of the day horrible? Yes, but the only issue was the wind by the time the doors opened. From the sea of green tour hoodies to tiny Ireland flags /We Heart Irish boys t-shirts to even the finger-pointing birthday signs, fans arrive in style and comfort at the Pine Knob Theatre.  No matter if you got a lawn seat or front row, everyone had the chance to see The Show.
Del water gap opened the night adorned in a suit and tie. Don't let his outfit fool you; he was jumping and dancing with the guitar.  His song Perfume was a big hit with the crowd. Honestly, we enjoyed him as an opener. We might have to put a few of his songs on our playlist.

For the main show, I wanted to discuss the set design. From the gold clamshell lighting along the edge of the stage to the cake layer tier platforms, we are treated to a vaudeville-like atmosphere. We didn’t see until the performance the light mirror-like ceiling panel that emitted light patterns throughout the night and the six-panel screen panels, which showcase imagery and bandmates. As the taupe-colored curtains cascade, the fans erupt into pure excitement.

We felt it was showtime as a pair of eyes appeared at the top of the curtains, shifting its eyes to get a look at the fans. While it was doing that, Fleetwood Mac’s The Chain was playing. As the lights fade to black, a starburst image is projected on the curtains in a seventies-style font, introducing the audience to The Show, along with the names of the band members and Niall himself.

The curtains lifted as they entered the first song, Nice To Meet Ya. Moving into Small talk, he made a slight remix with a few lines of Fleetwood Mac's “The Chain.” The rest of the night was filled with dancing and singing fan-favorite songs. There was a moment where Niall checked out a few fan made signs and even took a photo with a fan.

“It’s been six years; it’s so good to be back here. So we have to make a lot of lost time tonight. Are you willing? are you able to Detroit?” He mentioned that fans had bought these tickets almost a year ago today before going into a ballad. One of our favorite moments of the show was when he thanked the crowd for coming to the show and asked if they were having a good time. “Sing, dance, do whatever you need to do, just don’t get arrested” before a disco ball.

Of course, he ended the night with Slow hands, and at that point, we didn’t want the night to end. Overall, feeling the night was blissful.

Did you miss your chance to catch Niall? There is still a chance to see him on the North American leg of the tour.
