AMINDI TAKE WHAT YOU NEED and THEN SOME with "Cult Classic" ft. Vayda

Following an explosive entrance into 2023 with her debut mixtape, rising Inglewood talent Amindi returns to the ether with Take What You Need and Then Some – the Deluxe version released via EQT Recordings.

Amindi K. Frost, aka Amindi, has quickly introduced herself as a key voice across the US and beyond. Championing a rare lyrical focus that represents her own experiences while balancing love and the wonders of existence, Amindi’s unapologetic approach and genre-melting prowess are earning serious attention across the culture. From TEETH MAGAZINE to BILLBOARD to PIGEONS & PLANES (Artists To Watch 2024), the 24-year-old singer-songwriter is marking herself as a significant new name already resonating at the highest levels.

Across the original release of Take What You Need, Amindi displays her ever-evolving musical makeup, with colourful blends of hip-hop, indie and alt-R&B creating a breezy atmosphere for her psychedelic vocals to blossom front and centre. Serving as a deeper expansion of her creative and ethereal journey, the mixtape gains powerful introspection from some of the most culturally resonate artists in the US right now; Jordan Ward’s smooth touch on “bake” and Kenny Mason’s potent melodies on “pocket” set pace, while Frex, chlothegod and acclaimed producer monte booker add a timeless gloss to what stands as a highly significant project for the Jamaican heritage artist.

Now with five new tracks further showcasing her rich sonic palette, Take What You Need and Then Some emerges as a clear marker of Amindi’s growing talent blazing to new heights.

Bursting with intricate wordplay that perfectly encapsulates the hazy, late-night moments in our adolescence, Take What You Need and Then Some opens with “do2much2” – an infectious rework laced with indie textures produced by Working On Dying (Drake, Lil Uzi Vert, Playboi Carti). Manoeuvring through smoky sessions on “OK” (watch), connecting Amindi’s honey-soaked vocals and MAVI’s mellow cadence to depict the complex crossroads between love and lust, Take What You Need and Then Some draws to a close with the blossoming house track “neck” and the vibrant, guitar-driven “what i need” - capturing Amindi’s genre-fluidity and the seamless story-telling of an inspired creative emerging across LA’s bustling music scene.

Growing up in the vibrant spaces of Inglewood, California, Amindi was exposed to some of the most powerful influences across music, fashion and community; from frequent trips to Jamaican clubs and late-night jam sessions with her Father to discovering key musical inspirations including TDE and The Strokes, Amindi’s natural reflex for story-telling shines through every aspect of her complex artistry.

Experimenting with GarageBand in high school quickly led to the release of her 2017 smash hit “Pine and Ginger” alongside Tessellated and Valleyz – a breakthrough record which gained well over 23M streams on Spotify alone and an explosive remix from dancehall pioneers Popcaan and Kranium. Following a stream of infectious singles, Amindi dropped her stunning debut EP nice in 2021, continuing her exploration of self-love and resilience before featuring on “All Herb” across Isaiah Rashad’s highly acclaimed album The House Is Burning.

With growing clout and recognition spreading across the US, Amindi would later support international superstars Saba and Amaarae on tour – a pivotal experience building towards her debut performance at Coachella earlier this year, solidifying her artistic confidence and integrity as standout.

Having just announced a London headline show at Colours Hoxton on May 29th, Amindi is proving to be one of North America’s most exciting prospects crashing into UK consciousness – the future is bright for this young visionary.
