The Honey Pop praised the EP’s title track — highlighting its dreamy music video — raving: ‘In Another Lifetime’ really digs into making every star align so that we can keep dreaming of our potential special person… if you were looking for a track that gets what you’re going through and overthinking your what-ifs, you should tune into this one!”
The video depicts Lauren taking an introspective outlook on relationships to another level. Ocean breezes swirl around Lauren as she contemplates the missed connection and subsequent heartbreak. The dreamy silhouettes at dusk and the rhythm of the saltwater waves reflect this coastal cowgirl’s acceptance of the relationship’s inevitable end.
Lauren’s previously released single (April 19) titled “Drinking Over Me,” was highlighted in Holler’s “Best New Country Songs” and Cowgirl Magazine’s “Music On Mondays.” The track is fueled by rich piano melodies, twangy guitar, and steady percussion, with Lauren’s vocals infusing this tender country ballad with a distinctive rawness.
Since storytelling remains central to her creative expression, Lauren explains, “When I’m songwriting, I look for areas in my life that are also shared experiences among others. This was the case with ‘Drinking Over Me.’ Collaborating with my co-writers, each with their own experiences, allowed us to capture the universal struggle within relationships, friendships, and families around alcohol.”
Drawing inspiration from pivotal moments in her life, Lauren is seizing the reins of her narrative which has shaped her other EP singles: “Weak Days,” “Match,” and “Another Shot.” “Weak Days,” the lead single, resonated swiftly with listeners, garnering nearly half a million streams and views across various platforms. The song portrays a familiar tale, as Lauren delves into the theme of “loving a partner through difficult times.” Hinging on relatable narratives and creative lyrical vehicles, Lauren shares her personal journey while acknowledging that her listeners often find resonance in her experiences.
While Lauren initially embarked on her career in modeling and acting, her affection for country music remained steadfast. Reflecting on her decision to change courses, Lauren states, “Writing and recording music allows me full control over the story and sound, as opposed to being cast in someone else’s story.”
Drawn to the lyrical prowess of luminaries like Taylor Swift, Kacey Musgraves, and Maren Morris, Lauren reminisces, “It was the country lyricism that hooked me into the genre.” When the pandemic forced her to reevaluate her creative outlets, Lauren took inspiration from albums she grew up with and dove headfirst into creating music. Skillfully intertwining her own journey with those of her friends and collaborators, she weaves narratives that resonate with many listeners. Rooted in the conviction that “what is meant for you will be for you” Lauren anchors her songs in this empowering belief.
Lauren concludes, “I hope that listeners resonate with the stories I share; whether they’re about my experiences, my friends’, or my co-writers. Storytelling will always be at the core of my creativity.”
