Thelma (voiced by Brittany Howard) is a small-time pony who dreams of becoming a glamorous music star. In a pink and glitter-filled moment of fate, Thelma is transformed into a unicorn and instantly rises to global stardom. But this new life of fame comes at a cost. Thelma the Unicorn is a quirky, hilarious, and heartfelt ride from directors Jared Hess (Napoleon Dynamite) and Lynn Wang (Unikitty!).
On the film, Brittany stated, “In January of 2020, director Jared Hess came to my show at the Hollywood Palladium and told me he wanted me to voice act as the lead in the animated film, Thelma The Unicorn. He passed on the book to me and after reading it, I immediately connected with the story and character. Over 4 years later and a whole lot of work and fun, I am so proud and honored to present the film. Believing in yourself can make your world shine brighter!”

ABOUT BRITTANY HOWARD:
Known for her unique timbre and powerful, soulful, emotionally charged vocals, Brittany Howard has been at the heart of the music scene for over a decade. She is a globally renowned singer, songwriter, and guitarist extraordinaire whose critical acclaim began with the release of Boys & Girls, the RIAA platinum Top 10 debut album by Alabama Shakes (2012). It included the career-defining RIAA gold single “Hold On,” a #1 Triple-AAA anthem that Rolling Stone named #1 Song of the Year. It was nominated for a Grammy® as Best Rock Performance, earning the band a Best New Artist nomination. The second Alabama Shakes album (and final, before their hiatus), Sound & Color (2015) was another breakthrough, hitting #1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart, a rarity for an indie release. “Don’t Wanna Fight” took the Grammy for Best Rock Song (Brittany’s first songwriting Grammy®) and Best Rock Performance while Sound & Color won the Grammy® for Best Alternative Album. In September 2019, Howard released her solo debut, Jaime, whose celebratory single, “Stay High,” hit #1 on the Triple-AAA chart while "History Repeats" subsequently received Grammy Award® nominations for Best Rock Song and Best Rock Performance. This brought Howard’s cumulative career total to 16 Grammy® nominations and five wins. Most recently, Brittany Howard released her second solo album, WHAT NOW, which was widely critically acclaimed garnering praise from The New York Times, Rolling Stone, Billboard, Pitchfork, Associated Press, NPR, Variety, and much more.
