Southern California independent artist Chri$tian Gate$, fresh off the success of his RIAA Gold-certified single “Numb,” is back with the announcement of his new album NO STRINGS ATTACHED and the release of his latest single “TOXIC,” featuring singer-songwriter and producer Dutch Melrose. With its guitar-driven, dark alt-pop vibe, “TOXIC” delivers the raw emotion and edge that defines Christian’s genre-blending sound.
“TOXIC” explores the gut-wrenching pull of a self-destructive relationship, where both parties know it’s harmful but remain trapped in the cycle. Christian describes it as “watching a train wreck in slow motion, with both eyes covered.” His raspy, emotive vocals bring the story to life, reflecting the inner turmoil of a love that can't seem to end. The lyrics—“I’m sick of being toxic / I don’t wanna hurt you no / Nauseous, I hate feeling like this / But we both know I deserve to now”—capture the haunting duality of wanting to change but feeling stuck in a destructive loop.
On working with Dutch Melrose, Christian adds, “He’s one of my favorite artists, and I love everything he puts out. I actually bumped into him, and we started talking about ‘TOXIC’. He ended up writing the second verse, which totally shifted the direction of the song. I had tried writing verses for it so many times, but nothing clicked. Dutch nailed it, and it really set the tone for the rest of the track.”

Looking ahead, Christian sees NO STRINGS ATTACHED as both a continuation and a new direction in his artistic journey. “While it offers something familiar to fans who’ve been with me for a while, it also explores new territory—especially in terms of energy and genre,” he says. The album reflects his evolving sound and personal growth, capturing who he is in this moment while leaving the door open for more to come. “I feel like I’m constantly evolving, and this album is just one part of that growth.”
