Lxandra announces EP & shares bubbling track "Blonde"

LXANDRA ANNOUNCES IMMERSIVE EP MIGHT NOT WANNA WAKE UP DUE OUT NOVEMBER 17 PRE-ORDER THE EP HERE

Today, Finnish alternative pop artist Lxandra announces their immersive, raw EP Might Not Wanna Wake Up due out November 17 and available for pre-order now. Alongside the announcement, Lxandra shares the first taste of the forthcoming project with single and lyric video "Blonde" out everywhere now. On "Blonde," the artist delves into the denial that comes with early stages of heartbreak and looks back on brighter days.

The forthcoming EP, Might Not Wanna Wake Up, is built upon the ruins of the past versions of Lxandra, capturing an intimate portrait of unfiltered humanity and follows the five stages of grief. Lxandra explains the project is "a story on longing and letting go. A return to the ruins of my past and a last goodbye to the one I used to be." Over six songs that glide between darkness and light, the musician opens up about their experiences with pain and hardship–and what it means to make it to the other side of these challenging moments. Lxandra continues, "Struggling with grief in many different ways made me want to put this EP together. I wanted to dive deep into it and create a fairytale world appreciating all the different stages." Made intimately in Finland's countryside or in a quiet home at the piano, the EP is an honest depiction of life's raw, messy moments that ultimately allow Lxandra to find strength and beauty in who they are today. Alongside the music, Lxandra finds their story best told through visuals, resulting in a forthcoming short film to accompany the EP.

Out today, with a bubbling beat and captivating vocals, "Blonde" embraces the honest, rawness of denial. Written five years ago, it captures Lxandra fearlessly putting their own humanity on full display. It includes a personal voice note in the background of the bridge that further invites listeners into Lxandra's sonic and artistic universe. Lxandra says of the track, "It’s very innocent but still has that dark element to it."

Growing up on a tiny island called Suomenlinna in Finland with only 800 residents left Lxandra slightly removed from the mainstream and allowed their creativity to flourish in a world of their own. In October 2019, Lxandra shared their debut EP, Another Lesson Learned and later, their debut full length album, Careful What I Dream Of, arrived in June 2021 and gained international attention. Lxandra's music has found its way into American and European movies, and TV shows, such as Grey’s Anatomy, Marvel's Runaways, The Village, Man in the High Castle and Jonas Brothers’ Chasing Happiness documentary.

Lxandra has caught the attention of tastemakers worldwide, including profiles in Notion, Refinery 29, The Line of Best Fit and more, and they're just getting started. Clash called the 2020 single "Careful What I Dream Of," "a bold step" and "potent," and drew comparisons to music legends, writing, "There's that alluring smoky Amy Winehouse style vocals, with a dash of Sia in there, too, with Lxandra driving into fresh areas of exploration." In 2021, American Songwriter praised her single "Sideways," writing, "Between the song’s vibrant energy and Lxandra’s confident prowess as an artist, 'Sideways' does become a genuinely uplifting and empowering tune." Now, with the EP on the horizon, Lxandra looks to expand their artistry with a project that meets them where they are today–one that evolves with them and aims to find beauty in chaos.

With "Blonde," out everywhere now, Lxandra reminisces as they embrace change, even when it's painful. Lxandra's enchanting journey through stages of grief, the forthcoming EP Might Not Wanna Wake Up, is due out November 17 and is available for pre-order now. Hailing from the enchanting landscapes of Finland, Lxandra emerges as a songwriter, singer, and producer celebrated for their entrancing music. Their creative tapestry weaves together the gentle notes of piano, ethereal vocals, candid lyrics, and vibrant production, ensnaring the hearts of a global audience.

Lxandra's formative years were spent on the picturesque island of Suomenlinna in Finland, a place that nurtured their artistic spirit. Their daily journey to school either involved taking the ferry or their parents' boat to the mainland, “I can drive a boat, but I can’t drive a car,” the artist laughs.

Surrounded by a mere 800 residents, creativity was abundant in Lxandra’s upbringing. Influenced by luminaries like Prince, Joni Mitchell, Carole King, and Aretha Franklin, they immersed themselves in the enchanting tales of Hans Christian Andersen and the whimsical world of Tove Jansson's Moomins.

In crafting their sonic fairytales, Lxandra adds a touch of wonder to reality. Their aspiration is simple yet profound: “I want people to feel. Maybe, it gives them strength or makes them feel melancholic. Maybe, they know there’s someone else who feels the same way. Music is a very personal and private experience for me. I’m grateful I get to share it and be vulnerable."

Lxandra's belief in music's universal power to connect people is the cornerstone of their artistic journey. What sets them apart is the profound impact their music has on people's lives, seamlessly weaving itself into their memories and daily existence. This transformative perspective on life has significantly influenced their latest work, infusing it with an authentic introspection that profoundly resonates with their listeners.

Lxandra's talent has garnered recognition, including the prestigious Music Moves Europe award. Their debut album, Careful What I Dream Of, earned international acclaim in June 2021, featured on prominent Spotify playlists. Lxandra's music has graced the soundtracks of American and European movies and TV shows, such as Grey’s Anatomy, Marvel's Runaways, Man in the High Castle and Jonas Brothers’ Chasing Happiness documentary.

Anticipating the autumn of 2023, Lxandra is poised to unveil their latest offering, the EP titled Might Not Want to Wake Up. This body of work promises to be a bittersweet and cathartic journey through the five stages of grief. Accompanied by a self-directed short film, every visual has a deep sense of authentic, intimate, lived-in storytelling and intentionality, deepening the exploration of their inner world and creative vision.

Looking forward, Lxandra's aspirations include crafting a Bond theme song and embarking on a headline tour, cementing their legacy as a global musical phenomenon.
