STELLA SANTANA RELEASES NEW EP DISTANT II

Today, Stella Santana returns with the surprise release of her new EP Distant II, a follow up to last month’s Distant EP. Arriving alongside the five-track project is the focus track and video “Eternal Sunshine” featuring Mamablue. Distant II serves as the perfect bookend to the Distant releases as it’s the most intricate and definitive addition to Stella's genre-defying project. “Eternal Sunshine” features a fusion of sounds as it delivers a stand-out chill hop listen that samples the funk and soul Menahan Street Band, laying a foundation full of rich tonal resonance and a nostalgic R&B-tinged vibe. The accompanying cinematic visual takes viewers on a subterranean journey through the downtown streets of New York and is spliced with Los Angeles street sightings - merging coasts and bringing to life the Distant project.

Production for “Eternal Sunshine” spanned across two coasts and was done by artist-producers Daniel Lynas (A$AP Rocky, Kaytranada), Grammy-nominated Nico Farmakalidis (NicoTheOwl) and London’s Subculture. Each providing their signature touch on the collaborative effort.

Speaking on the track, Stella shares, "This song was a true collaborative effort, from the actual track itself to the video, and that's why I love it so much because it's the most fun to work with your friends, people who inspire you."

Distant II further expands on the emotions and truths that are found within space and distance. When questioned by her father (Carlos Santana) about the reasoning behind the project as he felt it did not echo Stella’s personal energy. “Why would you call it ‘distance’?” he asked. “When you’re so bright and warm. And present?” Stella explained, “distance isn’t always something negative. It actually requires strength to take space from something. It takes trust. Trust in yourself; trust that the universe or whatever you believe will show and give you what you need.”

Both Distant and Distant II evoke feelings of strength and calmness with an intentional message delivered over a lush production full of acoustic guitars and drums, all enmeshed with Stella's stylized pop and alt-R&B vibes. Stella adds, "It feels so good to release this second half of the Distant project. They are two moods and phases of a time I went through and cherish very deeply". Stella Santana continues to persevere as she creates an authentic musical experience that takes listeners on a captivating and multifaceted journey into her realm.
