Liz Cass releases scorching new single 'Too Hot'
Liz Cass has released her brand new single ‘Too Hot’, a scorching pop track that glistens with an 80s disco shimmer as she casts away fickle past relationships among its infectious funky groove.
Regarding the single, Liz says, “‘Too Hot’ is the first single from my next project. It's inspired by those fiery and quick-to-burn-out romances that lack any meaningful foundation. A lot of fun and excitement but never lasting. I used to seek that out, but now just the idea is exhausting to me!”
‘Too Hot’ has been produced by William Dinesen and mixed and mastered by DARGZ (Moses Boyd, Flyte, Poppy Ajudha). It is the first taste of a new wider body of work to follow soon.
Continuing the upcoming new project, Liz says, “It still explores affairs of the human heart, relationships and navigating the world, post-ADHD diagnosis, but upbeat and hopeful is where it's at. That's my headspace right now. It's good to know I can still write when I'm happy; it's not just therapy when I'm low! I've felt a lot freer, in general, working on this and less anxious about releasing it all. Make the music, love the process, and then just let it go... So I'm letting go.”
Liz Cass released her debut album, The Words, to great acclaim last year; the stunning alt-pop record captured a pivotal moment for Liz, playing as a healing process. It received a 4/5 nod from The Times, dubbing it “a smart alternative pop debut,” Clash praised her “refined, finessed electronic pop.” In contrast, singles including ‘Near Miss’, ‘Confessional’ and ‘Something Real’ received tremendous support from Radio 1.
Liz puts her distinct pop twist on classic 90s, 80s, and beyond sounds. To pay homage to these influences, she released the Teardrops EP earlier this summer. She covered a selection of songs from Womack and Womack, Joy Division, Mazzy Star, and Rialto with her unique touch as her broad vocals paired with soaring synths and downtempo beats. “Tender and tranquilizing… plays on her vintage tones and ambiance,” said Notion of the release, while Wonderland said, “Liz continues to captivate listeners and establish herself as a rising star.”
Liz proves her flame continues to burn bright with the release of ‘Too Hot’, and more details on her new project will follow soon.
