Regarding the EP, Billianne notes, “Growing up in a smaller town and living in the same house my entire life has made me a rather reserved person. There were (and still are) so many things that scared me. At the beginnings of writing the project, I found it terrifying to go to the city, meet new people, drive, or even just do anything on my own. It didn’t take long for that to change. Throughout the process of writing the EP, I conquered each one of those fears head-on. I’d arrive at sessions with stories of my observations from my commute. We would discuss the strange things a city will show you but also how much it has to offer. I grew to love the city. We’d talk all about life and what it’s like to still feel like a child who is afraid to grow up. I grew to love how it feels to grow up.

I called the EP “The Things We Talk About” because that’s how all of these songs started. The words of the EP and the experiences and conversations I’ve had while writing these songs are so intertwined. I couldn’t have planned it if I tried to. This was all such a natural and beautiful process. The EP feels like a coming of age, it feels like the graduation I never got and it feels like I’m tying a bow on my life so far. I hope for it to feel like this for every single listener.”

About Billianne

Billianne is a 20-year-old singer-songwriter from Milton, Ontario. With her sonorous voice, she captivated the internet in 2021 with her poignant adaptation of the Tina Turner classic “The Best” - reaching millions of ears, soaring across TikTok and spurring a spark of virality that redefined what comes next in her life. Since then, Billi has moved on to releasing original music, earning herself a six-figure following on both TikTok and Instagram - catching the attention and subsequent praise of idols like Taylor Swift and The Lumineers - 50 million global streams and over a million monthly listeners on Spotify. Billi finds refuge in nostalgia, radiating towards ideas that exemplify authenticity through simplicity. Ultimately, Billi is coming to learn that the greatest honesty lives in her songwriting and what she shares next will not only be a reflection of her tastes but also an unveiling of her thoughts. This summer, Billi will be on tour opening for Canadian legends (and hopefully, soon-to-be contemporaries) KT Tunstall, Tim Baker, and Half Moon Run, and releasing her debut EP, The Things We Talk About.
