NYC ELECTRO-POP DUO CLUB EAT RELEASE DEBUT ALBUM START

New York, NY | May 12, 2023 – Today, electro-pop duo and New York City nightlife curators CLUB EAT make their mark with the release of their debut album START.

Vocalist Ren G and producer Chicken hyped audiences up over the last few months, releasing a string of highly addictive, dancefloor ready songs. They rang in the new year with the projects vibey first single “Bubblegum,” and quickly followed it up with “Surprise”, a tantalizing tune that PAPER Magazine hailed as a “fun and flirty little electro-pop bop.” The twosome then rounded things out with their infectious ode to fashion, “Clothes”, premiering with NYLON Magazine who raved, “The thumping, early aughts-laced club track is a glorified banger”.

Start, the debut album from duo Club Eat, is a pop record — a rich compendium of playful, powerful beats and cheeky, sexy, often dark narratives about desire, longing, and partying. It's not something the duo would have expected to be making a few years ago.  Producer Chicken shared, “Our sound began very rooted in drum heavy functional club music and slowly evolved into more vocal driven format where we bring in elements from all different genres. The writing has become more narrative and personal as well, making for an overall more traditional pop album.”

The album evokes the chaotic spirit of their popular club nights: freedom of expression and individuality. Being unapologetically yourself is a message vocalist Ren G aims to covey with START. She muses, “Embrace your dark side, who cares. Find beauty and inspiration in everyday things.” Adding that she hopes listeners experience, “A sense of inspiration, fun, fearlessness, confidence, and joy.”

With this new release there’s no doubt that the Club Eat will continue their global expansion. This year the pair opened CupcakKe’s Valentine’s Day soiree at Brooklyn’s Elsewhere, performed at the Celine Paris Fashion Week party, and showcased at the iconic music festival SXSW. They’ll be celebrating their album release in true Club Eat fashion with bi-coastal happenings at Los Angeles boutique watering hole Gold Diggers on May 25th and bringing the party back to their New York City stomping grounds for a night not to be forgotten at Mehenata on May 27th.

About Club Eat:

Club Eat, the collaboration between producer Chicken (Isabella Lovestory, Bali Baby) and DJ and vocalist Ren G, has always been about pushing the limits of what a single creative project can constitute. It began as a series of parties around NYC and Brooklyn for which the duo soon began to create instrumental music under the Club Eat moniker (“Counting,” “Kick Drum”). A brash and seductive aesthetic emerged and began to make waves in the underground, garnering a cult following amongst New York’s nightlife and downtown elite. Building off this energy, frontwoman Ren G’s vocals and distinctive performance style became the focal point for a new body of work, tailor-made for live performance - whether at classic New York venues like Webster Hall, fashion week afterparties or on the back of a truck at their own self-produced illegal rave. Now, Club Eat is keeping the experimentation going, taking playful, sexy, dance-focused beats, and pairing them with cheeky, minimally-processed pop lyrics. The result is a richly layered sound that lives somewhere between Club Eat’s dance-focused past and their jarring take on power pop— delivering on the duo’s ongoing promise that what they did yesterday, is always just the beginning.
