There's a lot to explain, starting with Kaz Moon's new song
"This might have been the first thing I ever recorded after moving to New York in 2021," shares Kaz.
“I remember working on it in my new apartment, which at the time was really cursed looking. The previous tenant was some kind of alcoholic. It had like two decaying couches facing each other, just a really cursed environment. Then, I made 'A lot to explain.'"
Kaz experimented with music throughout middle school and high school and began songwriting during college before getting into the Dallas music scene. In 2020, at the peak of the pandemic, he quit his job to pursue music full time.
On the day of his flight to New York, Kaz dropped Curses! Part 1. He dropped Part 2 shortly thereafter. These two EPs saw Kaz maturing from bedroom pop one-off to rising indie auteur. To date, Kaz has garnered over 15M streams across platforms, boasts 300k monthly listeners, and has a loyal, cult-like following.
"I didn’t have any musical influence pushed on me, so I was able to find my own influences," says Kaz. "Part of that means that I think you come out looking a little awkward, maybe you look unconventional or like someone you wouldn’t expect to see performing and making music, but that’s the charm and the uniqueness of it." Charming and unique perfectly describe Kaz, who showcases his inimitable style on the forthcoming ST*R *NISE. It’s punchy, futuristic, guitar-driven pop laced with deep-fried samples of unknown origins.
"I never made the conscious decision to release music, if that makes sense," shares Kaz. "Put another way, I think when something is so obvious you don’t even notice you’re doing it, that’s probably what you’re meant to do."
