Keni Titus reveals her stunning EP 'mud on my superstars'
Today, Los Angeles-based indie-pop artist Keni Titus reveals her debut EP ‘mud on my superstars’- a series of songs that beautifully lyricise the memories and events tied up in her own coming of age story, to the sweet sound of an ambient and romantic instrumental arrangement.
Speaking on the creation of the EP, Keni shares that; "I wrote these songs from the ages 19-21. This project captures my clumsy journey from teenager to adulthood. I wanted to call it ‘mud on my superstars’ because that’s what that process looked like to me. The Adidas superstar was the most popular shoe when I was a preteen circa 2014. I still wear them now. Not the same pair of course but that’s not the point. Through the years these shoes have collected so much dirt and memories. Everything I’ve seen these shoes have too. To me life is kind of like having mud on my superstars and I wanted this project to document my mud. I love the concept of "taking a walk in someone's shoes". I imagine listening to this will feel like walking in mine."
The soft, intimate vocals and tender lyricism spotlighted on the EP feels like a warm embrace and is what makes Keni an artist that is actively touching the hearts of many through the power of her voice.
The EP features Keni’s pre-released singles ‘if u want’, ‘just keep driving’ and ‘american spirit’, which have become fan favourites in the indie-pop music scene, and gained momentous attention from her widespread social media presence. Alongside these tracks, there are four brand new singles that make Keni’s debut project, which consist of more of that honeyed sound people have fallen in love with this year.
