The Last Dinner Party have unleashed their third track, “My Lady of Mercy” via Island Records following the widespread acclaim for their debut singles, “Sinner” and “Nothing Matters.”

Produced alongside James Ford, “My Lady of Mercy” can already be described as a live favorite. It’s darker toned than its predecessors, but at its heart remains what’s made The Last Dinner Party such an alluring proposition to date, a smartly crafted alt-rock song with appeal far beyond any genre-specifics. The monochromatic video was directed by the band alongside Harv Frost and Dora Paphides.

A girl looking up at a painting of Joan of Arc for the first time and thinking that she looks so brave and so beautiful that she wants to kiss her. And maybe she also wants to kiss the girl who stands next to her in the school choir. We are expanding the world of The Last Dinner Party to encompass a darker, heavier atmosphere. The lyrics explore the anguish of a teenage crush that can only be described through the bloody, carnal language of religious experience, as the sound world takes cues from Nine Inch Nails, PJ Harvey, and Roxy Music.”

The Last Dinner Party began generating a remarkable buzz before formally releasing any music, a hype that stemmed from their live shows including opening for The Rolling Stones, Florence + the Machine, and more amongst a variety of festivals in the UK. The band, both musically and aesthetically, has been deemed a mix of mystery, decadence, spectacle, and charm. Their debut single, “Nothing Matters” hit the Adult Alternative Airplay Billboard chart in its first months of release (read on Billboard here) and most recently the band was chosen for Billboard “CHARTBREAKER” series.  The band spent much of the Spring and early Summer out on the road where where they’re due to remain for the rest of 2023. They recently made their debut at Glastonbury playing to a near-capacity crowd at Woodsies in the Saturday breakfast slot and converting hundreds of curious passers-by into bonafide fans with 45 minutes of impassioned, electric live performance and packing tents at the likes of Reading and Leeds, Electric Picnic, Latitude, Green Man, and End of the Road. The Summer also included support slots for Lana Del Rey, Florence & The Machine, and First Aid Kit. They’ll follow their Summer of festivals with a UK headline tour in the Autumn followed by an arena tour of Europe and UK in support of Hozier and make their US debut in the fall.
