NASHVILLE, TN (May 27, 2022) — Nashville-based country artist Katelyn Clampett has released the high-energy, boot-stomping, road trip song “Hang Up and Hang Out” today, marking her first release since 2020. Accompanied by a vibrant, retro-style animated lyric video; the single — self-penned and self-produced — showcases Katelyn’s dynamic range and stunning vocals, along with clever wordplay that radiates throughout.

“As an advocate for mental health, I think it’s incredibly important we ‘disconnect to reconnect’ sometimes,” Katelyn shares. “Writing ‘Hang Up and Hang Out’ was a reminder to myself and encouragement to anyone else who just needs a break every now and then…to know that it’s ok to rest and recalibrate. This song offers what I’ve found to be a healthy, tactile solution to feeling stuck in a screen-obsessed society, and lets you rock out in the process.”

Taste of Country raved about the song yesterday, saying, “the punkish country-rock song is a ready-made stress release that's perfect for the unofficial kick-off of summer.”

The single was recorded across three different locations. With the engineering help of Kyle Manner, the band recorded at Station West in Nashville, while overdubs were recorded at Kate Malone’s house who also aided in the production and engineering. “Having the support of other female producers and engineers is so important to me,” Katelyn admits. “Meanwhile, the vocals, keys, percussion, some overdub comps, and FX were done by my lonesome in oversized athleisure-wear at my home studio in East Nashville.”

While embarking on her own musical journey is no easy feat, Katelyn has some confidence-boosting experiences under her belt to help guide her. Shortly after moving to Los Angeles in 2010, Katelyn joined Selena Gomez and The Scene as a background singer. After spending the next two years touring the world, Nickelodeon star Victoria Justice then sought out Katelyn to join her band as a background singer, keyboardist, and acoustic guitarist. She has since shared the stage with Ariana Grande and Vince Gill and has opened for country acts Dan + Shay, Love and Theft, Gloriana, and Kip Moore, among many others.

Along with her vocal talents, Katelyn — formerly represented by CAA and Gellman Management — has stayed true to her first love, songwriting. In between accompanying global tours, she would make frequent trips to Nashville to work with other artists, not only as a songwriter but also as a producer. Since moving to Nashville in 2013, Katelyn has written and produced songs for chart-topping artists in Country and Christian music including Elevation Church, Leigh Nash, Honey County, and Jaden Michaels, as well as many popular companies and shows: Bud Light, Pizza Hut, Dancing with the Stars, Britain’s Got Talent, and CBS Sports.

“It's funny. When I walk into a room, people expect me to be the stereotypical singer. They quickly find out that I'm a not-so-closeted production nerd,” Katelyn explains. “There’s something I find so fulfilling about using something unexpected in a track…the sound of a toaster for a snare, the clink of high heels as percussion…distorting a sound and making something entirely new, to the point where no one would ever guess what it was before. The more “out of the box” the creative process, the more exciting it is for me.”

Katelyn has taken the driver’s seat in life, chasing down her dreams and making them happen. Music is in her blood, discovered at such a young age, she knew this is what she wanted to do. “I always had really supportive parents that never required me to have a backup plan,” Katelyn gushes. “I’m very lucky to have had that. I also had a front-row seat in watching my dad pursue his dream successfully, and had no reason to think anything other than ‘if he can do it, so can I!’” With a strong support system behind her, Katelyn is marching on with a batch of new songs to be released throughout the remainder of 2022.
