ANNOUNCE 5-MO, 37-CITY NO. AMERICAN TOUR, OPENS JUNE 16TH IN SOUTH CAROLINA
(March 18, 2022 – New York, NY) With over half a billion streams under their belt, Mt. Joy return with their new single “Lemon Tree” out today via Island Records. The track, which is accompanied by a dreamy, psychedelic-style music video, boasts luminous guitar underlining a head-nodding beat, before an off-kilter riff and saccharine refrain take hold.
“It’s about realizing that you can’t change the past, but if you can work on being a force of positive energy for others you can be rewarded with the privilege of moving on,” Matt Quinn reveals. “I was drawn to that phenomenon when you’re thinking of someone you haven’t spoken to in a while and that person texts you or reaches you in some physical way. At my most spiritual, I think there’s something about our energy that connects us. When you lean into positive energy, you’re rewarded for generating happiness for those around you. ‘Lemon Tree’ is about the power of our connection via this force.”
After amassing over half a billion streams and earning widespread acclaim from NPR, Billboard, Rolling Stone, The Line of Best Fit, and more, Mt. Joy have just announced their US Headlining “Orange Blood” 2022 Tour (with special guests Grammy®-nominated West Coast singer-songwriter Madison Cunningham, L.A. based indie-folk trio Wilderado, and The Brook & The Bluff). The headlining tour will kick off in South Carolina on June 16 and make stops in Seattle, Los Angeles, New York City, Chicago, New Orleans, and Dallas before wrapping in Austin, Texas on November 5. Mt. Joy – comprised of Matt Quinn [vocals, guitar], Sam Cooper [guitar], Sotiris Eliopoulos [drums], Jackie Miclau [keys, piano], and Michael Byrnes [bass] –take their name from the quiet rural town in southwest Pennsylvania, about four hours from their Philadelphia base. Together since 2016, they made their mark two years later when their self-titled Mt.
