Today, platinum-selling British singer-songwriter James TW has released a brand-new track “Butterflies” via Island Records, his first release of much more to come this year. After generating over 2 billion streams, selling out headline shows on multiple continents, and receiving acclaim from Billboard, Atwood Magazine, Huffington Post, Teen Vogue, and many others, James TW has quietly emerged as the biggest artist you’ve never heard of. Now, you’ll hear him open-up like never before on a series of singles and more music in 2021.

Kicking off this chapter, “Butterflies” flutters from a hypnotic riff and finger snaps towards confessions such as “I get drunk. I feel lonely. Try to drown all the noise in my mind, but alcohol doesn’t hold me the way you did. The gritty admissions belie the infectiousness of the chorus.

Following his 2019 debut album (Chapters), James TW commenced work on his next musical chapter at the top of 2020. Around the same time, the world went into lockdown and he found himself at the end of a six-year relationship. Confronting a flurry of turbulent emotions, he turned to music.

“Everything I wrote was about the breakup,” he admits. “I basically met her when I was 15-years-old. We started going out a year later. We were living together. I was honestly planning the rest of my life around her. It was obviously a big shock to the system, so the songs came flooding out. I wanted to capture all of the different emotions in the aftermath.”

Best known for breakout single “When You Love Someone,” which has amassed over 750 million-plus streams, has received Platinum certification in the US and UK, 2 x Platinum in Denmark and Netherlands, and 3x Platinum in Norway and Sweden. James has toured with Shawn Mendes and Andy Grammar and captivated millions of viewers on television shows, including Ellen and The Today Show. Now with over 1 million albums sold, 10 songs that have all accumulated over 50 million streams, and 150 million video views to date, get ready for what is sure to be a standout year for James. Widely appealing but hardly typical, his songs demonstrate critical elements of experienced songwriting that resonate with ease and a sense of staying power that is rare in today’s pop music.
