A letter from the editor: I'll do better
Hi Everyone,
It has been a very interesting year so far. A potential third war, a pandemic, killer hornets, and most importantly a movement for change in humanity. While this has been happening, I’ve been completely dark. Like this year, things have been changing in my personal life as well. I am currently the only essential working family member, so I have been working nonstop at my current day job; My brother was recently diagnosed with kidney failure and trying to figure how to help his day to day life, and I’ve been sleeping more and more to avoid the idea of losing my mind of lack of friendly conversation. With all this said, my problems are nothing. Let me repeat that, My problems are nothing. They are nothing Compare to the REAL problems going on in the states. I want to address that I stand with those who need their voices to be heard. I do not stand with Donald Trump's antics and those of the police force. The idea and mission from 8cantwait.org should be enforced.
“While we stand by the idea that any political leaders truly invested in protecting black lives should adopt the #8CANTWAIT policies, we also believe the end goal for all of us should be absolute liberation from policing, and encourage visitors to the site to support the range of organizers who are making progress in employing other strategies towards abolition: defunding the police and reinvesting in community.”
With the current condition, I stated in the beginning (mostly the brother part), at this time I cannot be with everyone on the streets. I would have loved to be side by side with those who want justice and liberty for the black community. I will be doing my best to correct my outlook as well as better educate myself. Of course, that’s not enough. What I can do is promote more diversity on this site. I will also be keeping a pack of water bottles in my car for any protesters I come across on my way to and from work. Of course, that not enough, this is still a small magazine that I need to address so it doesn’t get any profit (I’m still working on it) but I am making a donation to the Black Live Matter (Part of the ActBlue Charities, just so you are aware that when I post my proof. ) as well as a donation to the Trevor Project since this is Pride month.
This only the first chapter and I hope to do better this year and every year,
Taylor Ohryn
I have provided links to both the BLM website as well as the Trevor Project if you wish to donate as well.
