The Covid Rebelling Comeback

If one door closes, a phone is there to open the world

Like we discuss before, we are not in the best of times. So much for the roaring 20s right? Wrong. The music industry is not backing down without a fight. Many musicians, venues, employees are going through a crisis with safety precautions in set stone to prevent the disease from spreading. Now some major companies are stepping in to help those affected, like Bandcamp.

To raise even more awareness around the pandemic’s impact on musicians everywhere, we’re waiving our revenue share on sales today (Friday, March 20th, from midnight to midnight Pacific Time), and rallying the Bandcamp community to put much needed money directly into artists’ pockets.
— Ethan Diamond Co-Founder & CEO Bandcamp

But that doesn’t stop there, many artist are finding ways to reconnect to their fans via live streaming platforms like Twitch, Instagram, and Youtube. With not only conversations between fans but also mini concerts, BTS on new material, guitar classes, yoga classes and even mini cooking shows. Organization like Global Citizien are taking the chance to spread awareness as well others like Miley Cyrus having in dept discussions with doctors (Bright Mindset) during this crisis.

While this disease is going to stick around for a while, we might as well throw a party with social distancing best practice. So grab your phones, find a live stream, and start a party. This is our one of many chances to support your favorite artist and relieve the lock down blues.

Down below are a few videos from past live streams to catch up on.

Flatten The Curve Music Class with Arkells

If chilling isn’t your thing and you have an instrument, check out Arkell’s Instagram as Max Kerman and the rest of the band teach you how to play their songs every day at 1pm Est. Max provides one on one experiences with duets with fans. This is a great way to learn something new while being couped up. He chatted with WGRZ Lauren Hall about the experience:

"The goal was just to keep myself busy, really. If I'm being honest. I wanted something that felt productive and useful to do," frontman Max Kerman told 2wgrz on Skype from his home in Ontario.

"We said here's the song of the day, meet us here at 1 p.m. and I'll walk you through how to do it. I'm a real believer that rock-n-roll is not rocket science, and anybody can learn how to play these songs if you learn four or five chords. That's where the idea started from, and it's really become one of my favorite parts of the day." You can catch the whole article along with the Skype call up on their website. Global Citizen: Together At Home Performances

“Global Citizen and the World Health Organization (WHO) have launched a virtual concert series to promote unity amid the COVID-19 pandemic’s social distancing protocols. "Together At Home" will feature live performances from various musical artists via Instagram. Join us and take action to combat the coronavirus here. “ The Instagram concert series included artists like John Legend, Hozier, Chris Martin, One Republic, Charlie Puth, Common, Shawn Medes / Camila Cabello, and Niall Horan.

“Coronavirus is affecting people all around the world and part of how we prevent it from spreading to even more people, and hurting even more people, is by physically distancing ourselves from people, including people who might be sick,” Legend said, explaining that – like a lot of people – he won’t be going to work any time soon.

“A lot of artists have decided they want to make staying home a little bit easier for everybody,” he added.
