Today Los Angeles’ alt-rockers Cold War Kids have surprised their fans with the release of a new self-titled EP. The EP, which features recent single “Heaven In Your Hands,” arrives on the heels of their 10-week headline tour that saw them play across North America and their 10th studio album, Cold War Kids, released at the end of 2023. Written and recorded at the same time as the album, the EP is an extension of the album, focusing on what the newest iteration of Cold War Kids’ looks like.  Frontman Nathan Willett notes, “After our self-titled LP it would only be right to follow with a self-titled EP. It was inspired by Kali Uchis, Bluey, Birdman (a movie which I didn’t actually see 17 times), and is a tirade against cynicism, reflections of a teenage clepto, and what happens when we can no longer be shocked by bad behavior.”  In addition to the EP,  Cold War Kids have announced their fall headline tour dates which will kick off on October 16th with stops in Vegas, Nashville, Columbus, Tucson, before a final show in Santa Ana, CA.  Tickets, including a brand new VIP package, are on sale today, Friday, April 26th at 10AM local time — tickets available here.

The EP’s five tracks are bursting at the seams with infectious energy and sing-along melodies and it serves as a fantastic follow-up to the album.

remains an indispensable component of the alt-rock ecosystem. Representing their 10th album, Cold War Kids stands out as one of the most powerful in their career. The LP is a profound exploration of self, delving into personal introspection for lead vocalist Nathan Willett and the band as a collective entity.  At release NPR, Stereogum, WXPN, and others listed Cold War Kids as an album of note this week and the LP’s single, “Run Away With Me” peaked at #3 on the AltRock chart. Read the full bio on the album here.

Cold War Kids is Nathan Willett (vocals, piano, guitar), Matt Maust (bass guitar), David Quon (guitar, backing vocals), Matthew Schwartz (keyboards, backing vocals, guitar, percussion), and Joe Plummer (drums, percussion).
