Today, incredible newcomer aimei 媚 shares trailblazer single ‘Clouds.’ The crisp, electronic track is entwined with pop-noir songwriting that sits elegantly behind her mighty vocals. The single will be the first track to be lifted from her debut EP “City’s Violent” out on June 7th. In a day of many announcements, aimei 媚 has also announced her debut headline show at the Bermondsey Social Club on June 5th

Speaking about how Clouds case to be, aimei媚 explains “Escapism has been something I have turned to time and time again, a sanctuary I've sought when the weight of the world presses down on me. Amidst the haze of uncertainty that clouded my thoughts during the creation of Clouds, I found solace in crafting something that mirrored this shared sense of unease. I wanted to create something more than just a reflection, a rhythm and release to carry me through the chaos. ”
Unlike many debut EP being released, where there are elements of an artist finding their sound, aimei媚’s already feels rich in self-awareness. The City’s Violent EP takes a rich snapshot of her heritage, drawing on the influences from growing up in Manchester’s vibrant electronic scene, and also from London where much of the EP was written and then cultivated. aimei 媚 adds “My Chinese heritage is deeply ingrained in who I am, and I’ve always sought to express that through my music. Weaving Mandarin into Clouds and my EP, Citys Violent, feels like a crucial fusion of my identity—a bridge connecting my roots with the essence of my musical expression.”
Despite aimei媚 being new, today’s release follows a few strong early moments. It was only last month she released a standalone single to ‘I Like U Looking At Me’, which gained high praise from the likes of Clash Music, Radio 1’s BBC Introducing show and across Spotify on their Planet Rave, The Loft & Fresh Finds playlists. Her only other release was late last year was her debut “V&V” which was compelling enough to be added to Spotify's Fresh Finds Pop's Class of 2023 and saw The Line Of Best Fit praising her aimei 媚's lyrical relatability.
aimei 媚 is only just getting started. She undeniably has a wealth of promise and anticipation following her as she progresses toward the release of City’s Violent on June 6th.
