Disco-Tinged Pop Bringing You A Sense Of Nostalgia, Alexandra John Release New Single & Video "Lonely Night"

Still abuzz from 2022 – which saw Alexandra John release three major singles as well as one highly anticipated debut EP – the infectious indie electro-pop duo is excited to premiere their newest single, “Lonely Night.”

“Everyone has issues and uncomfortable feelings they seek to escape from,” shares Liza Cain, who makes up one-half of Alexandra John. The other half is her twin brother, Weston.

“Sometimes we hope the escape will last forever but we know time can’t stand still. At the end of the night, we often find ourselves alone. ‘Lonely Night’ speaks to those nights, where all you want to do is escape, but no matter what you do to escape, your issues and mental demons you’re dealing with are still with you after the party is over. You must come to the realization that all we have is the now. It can feel like a slow burn but in the impermanence and acceptance of the now, you can find peace within yourself you’d been searching for all along.”

With the video, the band aimed to capture the emotions of a night out. One can experience those innocent moments of fun and then encounter the not-so-great ones, where they attempt to give themselves a pep talk and understand that while partying until the sun rises feels exhilarating, the aftermath can arrive as swiftly as the initial excitement. While driving around in search of a night out, the characters stumble upon a bar. They both go their separate ways to find their own escape. They have a great time, but soon everything starts to hit them, and they realize that they have a choice: either they continue to party into the void, making regrettable decisions or not even remembering their choices, and end up alone, or they choose to be alone.

“Lonely Night” is Alexandra John’s first release since dropping their debut EP, Healing, last December. Healing featured the singles, “Strung Out,” “Demons,” and “Lock Me Down.” For an in-depth look into the band and Healing – check out their NEW NOISE feature with WONDERLAND MAGAZINE here.

“We have been inspired to take our sound from our debut EP to the next level,” says Weston. “We collaborated once again, with our friends, musicians – 504 Horns - to keep our sound cohesive and bring a sense of nostalgia. When we created "Lonely Night," we wanted to share a song for everyone and anyone who’s had one of those nights, and we want them to know that through the loneliness is when you discover what you want and who it is you really are. We were inspired by what our parents would say the good old days. Music during one of its purest & most timeless decades. We grew up listening to various genres and love to implement those influences into our sound.”
