ANNOUNCE 5-MO, 37-CITY NO. AMERICAN TOUR, OPENS JUNE 16TH IN SOUTH CAROLINA

(March 18, 2022 – New York, NY) With over half a billion streams under their belt, Mt. Joy return with their new single “Lemon Tree” out today via Island Records. The track, which is accompanied by a dreamy, psychedelic-style music video, boasts luminous guitar underlining a head-nodding beat, before an off-kilter riff and saccharine refrain take hold.

“It’s about realizing that you can’t change the past, but if you can work on being a force of positive energy for others you can be rewarded with the privilege of moving on,” Matt Quinn reveals. “I was drawn to that phenomenon when you’re thinking of someone you haven’t spoken to in a while and that person texts you or reaches you in some physical way. At my most spiritual, I think there’s something about our energy that connects us. When you lean into positive energy, you’re rewarded for generating happiness for those around you. ‘Lemon Tree’ is about the power of our connection via this force.”

After amassing over half a billion streams and earning widespread acclaim from NPR, Billboard, Rolling Stone, The Line of Best Fit, and more, Mt. Joy have just announced their US Headlining “Orange Blood” 2022 Tour (with special guests Grammy®-nominated West Coast singer-songwriter Madison Cunningham, L.A. based indie-folk trio Wilderado, and The Brook & The Bluff). The headlining tour will kick off in South Carolina on June 16 and make stops in Seattle, Los Angeles, New York City, Chicago, New Orleans, and Dallas before wrapping in Austin, Texas on November 5. (Please see complete tour dates below.) Go to http://www.mtjoyband.com/tour for more info on tickets. The tour will follow their current spring run which has sold-out dates in Canada, New York, and North Carolina. Additionally, Mt. Joy is closing out SXSW at Auditorium Shores on March 19.

Mt. Joy – comprised of Matt Quinn [vocals, guitar], Sam Cooper [guitar], Sotiris Eliopoulos [drums], Jackie Miclau [keys, piano], and Michael Byrnes [bass] –take their name from the quiet rural town in southwest Pennsylvania, about four hours from their Philadelphia base. Together since 2016, they made their mark two years later when their self-titled Mt. Joy debut album spun off "Silver Lining," an uplifting power ballad that went to #1 at AAA radio (Billboard Adult Alternative Airplay) and has eclipsed over 120 million Spotify streams to date. Their second album, Rearrange Us (2018) drew widespread critical raves. Over the past four years, Mt. Joy has performed at a variety of festivals such as Lollapalooza, Austin City Limits, Bonnaroo and has toured with The Lumineers, Rainbow Kitten Surprise, The Revivalists, and The Head and The Heart. Additionally, the band has performed on The Late Night Show with Stephen Colbert, CBS Morning, Samantha Bee, Late Night with Seth Meyers, Jimmy Kimmel, and Conan.

ABOUT MT. JOY:

Mt. Joy channel bright, bold, and brilliant energy in their music. The Philadelphia quintet—Matt Quinn [vocals, guitar], Sam Cooper [guitar], Sotiris Eliopoulos [drums], Jackie Miclau [keys, piano], and Michael Byrnes [bass]—have steadily evolved since forming back in 2016. Two years later, their self-titled debut, Mt. Joy, yielded “Silver Lining,” which eclipsed 120 million Spotify streams and counting. Anchored by favorites such as “Strangers,” Mt. Joy’s second album, Rearrange Us arrived to widespread critical applause during 2020. The Line of Best Fit praised it as “aiming for arena-highs, while Atwood Magazine christened it “an ambitious triumph embracing their signature sound while plunging headfirst into the deep end of life.” Along the way, the group has sold out hallowed venues such as Red Rocks Amphitheatre in addition to gracing the bills of festivals, including BonnarooNewport Folk FestivalLollapaloozaMade In America, and beyond. On their 2022 third full-length offering, they explore a sonic spectrum of eloquent folk daydreams, blissful guitar-propelled psychedelic rock, and artful alternative alchemy siphoned from sessions in the Southern California desert under a watchful sun, shining like never before.
