OVER 5 MILLION TIKTOK VIEWS AMASSED VIA EARLY TEASERS   NORTH AMERICAN TOUR KICKS OFF OCTOBER 3rd IN MONTREAL

August 30th, 2024 — Los Angeles, CA — Today, Cian Ducrot shares “Can’t Even Hate You,” a spare but powerful breakup ballad that captures one of love’s most complex feelings in simple terms. Fans have come to expect nothing less from the Irish singer-songwriter, who pairs intimate lyrics with a voice that contains multitudes of emotions. Listen to “Can’t Even Hate You” HERE, out now via Darkroom/Polydor/Capitol.

Anticipation for the piano-driven single has been building — to the tune of over 5 million TikTok views — since Cian shared several teaser clips over social media. He also debuted the entire song on August 27 when he became the first artist to perform through one of the remarkable Portals, essentially live-streaming from the Dublin sculpture to three others on the streets of New York City, Vilnius (Lithuania), and Lublin (Poland). Known for his moving pop-up performances in malls, trains, and even the TODAY show crowd, Cian brought with him a flash mob choir and a backing band who lent a larger-than-life feel to his strikingly emotive singing.

The historic impromptu concert delighted passersby and fans alike — across continents no less. Watch a BTS video of the event HERE along with a recap video HERE and check out Cian debuting “Can’t Even Hate You” live for fans at the Portal HERE.

On “Can’t Even Hate You,” Cian’s vocals move from a deep growl to a high quaver as he delivers soul-stirring truths like, “Hating only hurts those who feel it, and I'll be damned if that’s on you.” We hear frustration, and a hint of tenderness, but the pain is most palpable when he reaches the chorus: “You know how I know that I loved you too hard? Because I can’t even hate you for breaking my heart.”

"It’s one of those songs that just finds meaning as you write it,” said Cian of his latest deeply candid release. “It starts as just an idea and something you relate to and with time you realize what it is you’re writing about and the song grows and becomes more and more about that one thing. It makes it an emotional process and also one that can be hard to share because no one will really understand it the way you do and the fear of it being judged when it’s so personal can be scary but in the end that’s what sharing it is about. For people to connect and love it or hate it, but hopefully it helps someone!"

That was certainly the case for his stripped-down May single, “Something I Can’t Afford,” a folk-pop gem that went viral after he shared a video of him playing it for his girlfriend for the very first time. Cian’s ability to connect with audiences is becoming increasingly well known. He recently received the ASCAP Vanguard Award and has shared his songwriting with the likes of Natalie Jane, Lauren Spencer-Smith, and, most recently, SZA — he co-wrote and sang backing vocals on her chart-topping hit single, “Saturn.”

Hailing from Cork, Ireland, Cian emerged as one of 2023’s biggest breakout artists thanks to the smash success of his acclaimed debut album, Victory, which went straight to No. 1 in the UK and Ireland. Featuring the Platinum-certified “All For You” and the Gold-certified “I’ll Be Waiting” (both Top 20 hits), Victory also included soaring standouts like “Heaven,” winner of the RTÉ Choice Music Prize for Irish Song of the Year. Cian supported Ed Sheeran on tour in early 2023 and, since the album’s release, has been performing a multitude of sold-out headline shows across the UK, Ireland, and the US.

Building on recent stops like Wales’ In It Together Festival and a 20,000-capacity headlining homecoming show at St. Anne’s Park in Dublin — plus select dates as special guest to Jess GlynneCian is enjoying strong billing at festivals both in the UK and Europe and will tour North America with Calum Scott this October. Cian will also perform a solo headline show at Baltimore’s Soundstage on October 8th. View his full tour itinerary HERE, and stay tuned for more music.
