(June 21, 2024) - South London singer / songwriter Lola Young releases her highly anticipated album This Wasn’t Meant For You Anyway via Island Records. A contemporary break-up album, This Wasn’t Meant For You Anyway encapsulates the sound of what it means to be young and in constant romantic chaos. Lola’s new full length album includes the previously shared singles “Messy,” which premiered as Jack Saunders’ Hottest Record on BBC Radio 1, “Fuck,” “Big Brown Eyes,” “Intrusive Thoughts,” “Wish You Were Dead,” and “Conceited.”

This Wasn’t Meant For You Anyway denotes an evolution in Lola’s sound as an artist following up her 2023 project My Mind Wanders and Sometimes Leaves Completely. Recorded in Los Angeles and produced by friend and collaborator Solomonophic (Remi Wolf, BROCKHAMPTON, Dominic Fike), the eleven tracks of This Wasn’t Meant For You Anyway conjure a multi-faceted, fearless concept. As irresistible as it’s unexpected, Lola’s album is crackling with kinetic energy and lyrically fuelled by rage, passion, narrative flair and comedy derision.

Through her captivating filmed content and no-nonsense output, Lola has won over a new legion of fans spanning both sides of the Atlantic, including the likes of Snoop Dogg, Tyler, The Creator, Ty Dolla $ign, Offset, Michael Stipe, Little Simz and Lily Allen.

This September, Lola will return to North America to celebrate the release of This Wasn’t Meant For You Anyway with a string of 18-headline shows. The upcoming fall tour sees Lola performing at revered venues such as New York City’s Webster Hall, Nashville’s EXIT/IN, San Francisco’s The Fillmore, Los Angeles’ The Bellwether and Seattle’s Showbox. Lola is also set to perform at Lollapalooza, Osheaga Festival, and All Things Go Festival in North America with additional festival sets at Haldern Pop Festival, Skandaløs Festival, Blud Fest, and All Points East across the pond this summer. Along with her North American headline tour, Lola will also bring her electrifying headline live show across the United Kingdom and Europe this December and into 2025. Full tour routing can be found below and tickets for all of Lola’s upcoming live dates can be found HERE.

Born in South London to a professional bass-playing father and music-loving mother, Lola was introduced to music at a very young age. She took up various lessons, including piano, guitar and singing and eventually attended the BRIT School, known for educating iconic artists like Adele, Amy Winehouse, King Krule, and many more. Last year, Lola released her aforementioned album My Mind Wanders and Sometimes Leaves Completely, which includes the hit song "Don't Hate Me." Rolling Stone recently highlighted Lola as an artist to watch in 2024, describing her sound as, "a unique fusion of post-punk, soul, and low-fi pop."
