Singer-songwriter Rae Isla has announced today’s premiere of her new single, “Miles and Miles,” available today. Produced by Isla with guitarist/composer Pablo Valero (formerly of Mexico City’s Santa Sabina), the deeply moving track heralds the Bainbridge Island, WA artist’s upcoming new album, New Frontier, arriving Friday, July 19.
"I drove 2,868 miles across the country during the pandemic from Brooklyn to Seattle,” says Rae Isla. “When I got home, I sat down at my childhood piano and wrote this song in one meditative sitting. I could still feel the hum of the highway. The drive reminded me of many things, but most importantly how beautiful and resilient this country is. Signs along the road of hope and encouraging social distancing. The smiles and warm wishes from masked gas station attendants. The hopeful 18-year old from Tennessee starting his first ‘real job’ at Badlands National Park in South Dakota. Through my Westward journey, I witnessed people's strength and it reminded me of my own.”
To celebrate “Miles and Miles,” the fiercely independent Isla has created an original browser game enabling players to guide a pixelated cowgirl across a side-scrolling desert landscape reminiscent of her own cross-country journey, playable HERE.
"We spent the past 3 months building a game for my song ‘Miles and Miles,” Isla says. “It’s a whole world, rich with lyrics, imagery, and easter eggs that tell the journey this song has been on. Why do this? It’s super weird to release music these days. I mean, were songs even meant to be experienced alone, bent over a device? Probably not. But here we are… One thing that can really help a release is having people engage with a song before it’s officially out. So, instead of posting a gajillion Tik Toks, I wanted to spare you my terrible dance moves and let you experience the world around ‘Miles and Mile’s in a new way. Music is digital so why not immerse as deeply as we can in a digital space!”

Classically trained in cello, then studying voice as well as business at Berklee College of Music, Rae Isla began her journey as an independent musician in Brooklyn, NY, collaborating on early releases with producers Gianluca Buccellati (Lana Del Rey, Arlo Parks) and Garrett Eaton (Holly Miranda). She soon became a staple in NYC’s indie live music scene, while also co-producing and self-releasing her first EP and debut album, Another Life, the latter of which proved the 27th most added record in the world on NACC Charts upon its 2021 release.
“Miles and Miles” marks the latest in a series of recent song releases from Isla, including “Downpour,” “The Gardener,” and “Free To Love,” available now at all DSPs and streaming services. In addition to her traditional song releases, Isla is one of a handful of musicians pioneering the music web3 space via Blockchain and NFTs. She has sold over 2,000 NFTS (equivalent to 55M streams) thus far, attending conferences around the world to speak about her experience.
In addition, Rae – who has been featured in a wide array of publications including Billboard, Complex, EARMILK, and others – recently recorded the title track for the upcoming film, Ezra, directed by Tony Goldwyn and starring Robert De Niro, Bobby Cannavale, Rose Byrne, and Whoopi Goldberg, arriving in theaters via Bleecker Street on May 31 following its acclaimed premiere at the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival.
