EDEN RAIN GIVES A STUNNINGLY SWEET AND SINCERE PERFORMANCE ON NEW SINGLE

“CLOSER” LISTEN HERE

Today, London-based artist Eden Rain returns with a blissful new melancholic and heartfelt single ‘Closer’. On this intimate account of love and loss, Eden evokes a powerful sense of helplessness and pain through her songwriting, as she witnesses the effects of grief in someone she loves.

Speaking on the sentiment behind ‘Closer’, Eden shares; “It’s definitely been my most cathartic song to write- I wrote this song about my experience of loving someone who is going through grief. It’s about the feeling of someone being so close to you but unreachable at the same time, the pain of not knowing how to be around them or knowing that you’re powerless in helping them. I wrote it one afternoon with Conway (halfrhymes) and then I cried all the way home on the tube listening to the demo.”

Alongside the single’s release, Rain has shared an official music video which in true Eden Rain fashion was a DIY project, brought to life with the help of her imaginative, creative mind. Bringing light to the darkness, the visualiser acts as a gorgeous accompaniment to the song, and can be watched below:

Originally from Yorkshire, but now calling London home, the London music scene has fully embraced Eden and her irresistible charm. Through regularly playing headline shows, most recently Soho’s The Lower Third, as well as desirable support slots, she is fully immersed in the scene and is consistently growing because of it. Eden plans on continuing to share her stories and talents with her London community, whilst also taking on other UK cities in 2024, with her main goal being to take her music as wide as possible.

Today’s new release comes off the back of Eden’s sophomore EP ‘But I’m Alright Now’, last November, which was a mesmerising body of work, featuring well-loved singles ‘All Things Change’, ‘Pet Names’, ‘I Found My Brain’ ‘Terry And Julie’ and latest track ‘Ghost Girl’. The project garnered reputable support in press and playlisting, gaining her features in Official Spotify Playlists like, Fresh Find, anti-pop, peach and New Music Friday

More on Eden Rain…

Raised in Yorkshire, Eden jokingly describes her early musical upbringing as having a “Von Trapp vibe”, full of long car journeys packed with family sing-alongs to homemade mixtapes, and multi-part harmonies sung with her siblings; “a lovely wholesome relationship with music,” she nods. Having been an avid writer of teenage poetry, she admits with only a mild cringe, it was when she sang Carole King’s ‘You’ve Got A Friend’ at a talent show aged 13 that she began to tie the ideas of writing and performing in her mind. Eden started taking piano lessons and, a couple of years later, began to pen her own music.

If some artists seem to emerge preposterously young and fully-formed, then the fact that it took Eden a while to evolve into the confident artist, sure of her own musical mindset, that she stands as now feels important. She recalls “overthinking it a lot, trying to fit into a niche that already existed” and coming out feeling empty. “The artist I wanna be is a bit rough around the edges - hopefully in a good way,” she continues. “Who I am as a person is a bit of a patchwork quilt of different things. I used to polish myself up for people, but then I looked around and the things that my friends like about me is that I’m a bit frazzled and slightly chaotic; I wanted to lean into that a bit more because that’s more genuinely who I am.”
