Australian pop punk duo The Hype (previously 3REE) have released their brand new single ‘Something In The Water’.

The single reflects on the gruelling grind of being an artist in 2024, while also expressing the addictive dopamine hit of when the hard work starts to cut through. The track finds Mitch Volcan (vocals, guitar) and Sean Tighe (drums) on a darker post-hardcore tip than found on their previous singles.

‘Something In The Water’ bursts with aching passionate melodies and soaring synths reminiscent of Bring Me The Horizon while the pounding drums and biting rap flow from Volcan call to mind the likes of Twenty One Pilots.

Regarding the single Mitch Volcan says, “‘Something In The Water’ was written while on tour with our heroes The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus in America and we were thinking about how tough it is to be an artist in 2024. We sometimes feel down and out, or too focused on being a content creator, but there's something special about actually getting out there and doing it for real. That's the drug that makes us move forward and never give up.”

The Hype closed 2023 with their first North American tour with The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, wrapping their most successful year yet since Mitch Volcan and Sean Tighe started releasing music together in 2019.

2023 was a year full of “pinch me” moments for the band, which included working with more of their heroes such as Kellin Quinn of Sleeping With Sirens, who joined the band for guest vocals on their acclaimed singe ‘Set This Place On Fire’, described by Rock Sound as “A riotous anthem… dripping in mountain high melodies, soaring riffs and plenty of gritty atmosphere.”

Reflecting on their achievements and direction, as they entered 2024 it prompted their name change to The Hype. Fuelled by newfound determination and an ever-increasing fanbase right across the world, ‘Something In The Water’ now launches their brand new era as The Hype, and it’s one to get excited about.
