GUS HARVEY challenges the conventions of romance in “Netflixx”

Multi-talented UK artist Gus Harvey returns to the sound sphere with her new offering “Netflixx” – released on House Anxiety Records and taken from her forthcoming new EP.

Across low-key, soulful jazz instrumentals, the sunset sounds of “Netflixx” set the scene for Harvey to tell a tale of the romantic heroine and the conventions of romance; juxtaposed vulnerability and violence, softness and ferocity, as epitomized by the star of its lyrics, Alabama Worley in the classic cult film True Romance.

Accompanying the release is a DIY visual piece directed by Harvey’s long-time collaborator, Netti Hurley (Berwyn, Adidas, Nike). The first time the pair have worked exclusively and alone on Gus’s visuals, Harvey styled, produced, and edited the video herself, with Hurley directing and shooting everything on location in Sitges, Barcelona.

“Netflixx” is lifted from Harvey’s forthcoming EP of four love songs, which aims to explore what connects us when we are physically separated. The release also follows on from April’s single “Easy Pt. 1”, which officially marked Harvey’s return to music after a three-year hiatus for the acclaimed artist who has been championed by the likes of Clash, Notion, Hunger, and Fault.
