#Live Oh Chat, Lovejoy step away from of Twitch and into a sold out Royal Oak show

View of the sold out crowd

Fans waited since six in the morning to get as close as possible to the front last night at the Royal Oak Music Hall. While other fans quickly got a tattoo of the Lovejoy’s skeleton cat. Nonetheless, we were not ready for the fans and the heat. At almost ninety degrees, the fans managed their way into the building; some slowly ran to the front row while others formed a line all the way to the front for merch.

Many fans were excited to hear favorites like “Consequences” and “Oh Yeah, You Gonna Cry” but first they had to wait as openers. Spilly Cave and Crywank provide the right amount of excitement to get the fans ready. At one point in Crywank’s set, Lovejoy’s drummer Mark joins him on the last two songs.

But as the heat started to dip, the lights as well. Introducing the band to the stage with music from The Good The Bad and The Ugly, the members arrived on stage with screams of joy. The last to arrive was Will (Wilbur Soot) being carried by one of the stagehands.

The night started off with their most popular song “Call me what u like” before jumping into “Taunt” and “Consequences”. Our personal favorites to hear live was “Consequences” and “Perfume”.

They ended the night with Portrait and Concrete. The one thing we had to say about the atmosphere of this crowd was that it felt oddly comforting. Everyone in the crowd felt heard and shared their joy with each other in the nicest way possible. Which refreshing to see. Fans of all backgrounds and disabilities were able to enjoy the night without the pressures of the outside world (Except for the temperature, which was painfully brutal).

Only a few more shows left in the US but for those back in England, new dates were announced to carry you over for the next couple of months.

More About LoveJoy

British indie outfit Lovejoy debuted on May 9, 2021 with their first EP Are You Alright?, which features their song “One Day.”The single currently boasts over 105 million streams on Spotify alone and continues to climb. In October 2021, the band released their second EP Pebble Brain. Today, over a year later, the band return with “Call Me What You Like.” Along with Wilbur and Ash, Lovejoy features band members Joe Goldsmith (guitar, songwriting) and Mark Boardman (drums, percussion).

Since the band’s debut, they have grown an incredibly dedicated fanbase, selling out shows across the globe, accumulating hundreds of millions of streams across their discography, and seeing over 48K fans join their new Discord server in just 24 hours. Lovejoy is the renaissance of your favorite noughties band, harnessing a love affair with cheeky, satirical social commentary and overdriven, treble-topped guitars. Their storytelling and colloquial lyrics speak truthfully to their young, internet-crazed fans and help navigate them through their complicated adolescence: from first loves to social agitation.
