Kelsey Hickman Shares "LUVUH8U"

FIVE-TRACK EP “LIGHTS OUT” DUE FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 16, 2024

NASHVILLE, TN (December 1, 2023) — Today, Nashville’s country rock artist, Kelsey Hickman, unveils the third single, “LUVUH8U,” from her upcoming five-track EP, Lights Out, set to be released on Friday, February 16. In this song, Kelsey emphasizes that the opposite of love isn’t hate but rather, indifference. She introduces a unique blend of sweet country twang and a raspy rock edge. “LUVUH8U” serves as an anthem for relationships walking the delicate line between love and hate. Fans can anticipate an official music video accompanying the single’s release on Friday, December 15.

“LUVUH8U is about that person you want to hate but you just can’t,” shares Kelsey. “Thinking the hard road will pay off in the end… It turns into not only a battle with the other person, but you end up looking inward at yourself,” she continues. “Why do we cause ourselves so much pain for love?”

The track succeeds the release of “Love Is For Suckers,” (November 3) which found high praise from MXDWN being noted as “An ode to introspection with delightfully raw lyricism and impassioned vocals that will leave fans and critics alike wanting more.” Previously, the lead single “Novocaine” served as the formal introduction to Lights Out. Fueled by a dynamic fusion of genres, Kelsey has crafted a distinctive and invigorating sound that resonates with impactful drum beats and guitar riffs that hit you to the core.

Produced by Donn Miggs — best known for his work with legendary artists like Mick Fleetwood and Tower of Power — Lights Out is a tribute to the effect of true, gritty authenticity. Fueled by the purpose of inspiring listeners to feel comfortable embracing their feelings and not being afraid to “lose their shit” when necessary, Kelsey promises the EP to be a must-listen for fans of emotionally charged, country-rock music.

After a tenure with midwest band Still Kickn’ — which gave her the opportunity to open for Lady A, Montgomery Gentry, Easton Corbin & Tracy Lawrence — Kelsey’s began her journey as a solo artist in 2013 when the band decided to part ways. She shared her first full-length solo country album, Gypsy, in 2016. Teaming up with GRAMMY-nominated producer Kent Wells and songwriter Bill DiLuigi, she proved her talent and potential on the album.

In the years that followed, her love for rock ‘n’ roll and her country roots led her to embrace her inner rebel spirit and evolve her sound. And in 2022, Kelsey’s country rock sound got a fresh makeover when she started working with Don Miggs. With Miggs’ help, she reinvented and refined her sound, giving it a fresh edge and authenticity that fans are sure to love.
