NASHVILLE-BASED POP SINGER / SONGWRITER LEANNA FIRESTONE KEEPS NOTHING PRIVATE ON HER NEW EP PUBLIC DISPLAYS OF AFFECTION
“You Just Didn’t Like Me That Much” introduced throngs of young enthusiasts to Firestone’s diaristic lyrics and quirky pop sound, both of which are fully exposed on her much-anticipated new EP, Public Displays of Affection. Public Displays of Affection is available via all DSPs now.
“Public Displays of Affection felt like the perfect title because my current relationship is the first time anyone has ever been publicly involved with me,” confesses Firestone. “Growing up, boys only liked me in secret. So, for someone to show affection to me in front of their friends and my friends, it feels like my first honest love.”
In addition to “You Just Didn’t Like Me That Much,” Public Displays of Affection features the songs: “Reincarnation (co-written with Adam Boukis, Nick Lopez),” “God and the Government,” “Right Person, Right Time,” and “Love of My Life.”
Each song finds Firestone doing what she does best – getting unapologetically real about life and relationships. Though Firestone admits that “Love of My Life” is her favorite track from the EP, as it bridges the gap between heartbreak and falling back in love.
“Love is cyclical, recycled from one to the next, and so on,” says Firestone. “Every time you think you couldn't possibly do it again, you'll find a way. People are just trying to find their end goal. It's okay to have to experience different iterations of relationships to figure out what you want and need. This EP is about hope – that things can and will get better, and that in the end, you will find someone who treats you with respect.”
At 21 years old, Firestone is already a prolific songwriter with over 50 m
illion global streams of her self-penned catalog. She currently lives in Nashville with her boyfriend and her dog, and most recently signed with Frtyfve Records out of London.
