Amyl and Sniffers are going on tour, we are here to get you ready for them
Amyl & the Sniffers – the Melbourne, Australia rock band fronted by powerhouse Amy Taylor – return stateside this weekend for their Fall U.S. tour. Following their triumphant, and sold-out Spring tour, The Sniffers will perform at Primavera in Los Angeles this weekend, before hitting the road across the country for a few weeks. Their last U.S. run saw them perform at Coachella and Shaky Knees, as well as make their raucous U.S television debut on Late Night With Seth Meyers, which Stereogum described as “an absolute revelation,” adding that the band “absolutely fucking ripped it.” The band is ready to do it all over again, featuring some of the largest venues they have ever played. To celebrate the start of the tour, Amyl & the Sniffers share an incredible live video today. Featuring three tracks performed live at The Forum in Melbourne, the video includes “Mutts,” “Capital” and “Choices.” “I wanted this to be filmed so people could see what our live show was like during the ‘Comfort To Me’ touring period,” Amy Taylor says of the live video. “It had to be filmed by John Angus Stewart of PHC Films as he has been there filming since the beginning. He was in the studio with us shooting behind the scenes when the album was being recorded, he made all of our videos and shot our Live from Williamstown show, and finally these clips, shot at this iconic venue in our hometown. John’s energy parallels mine, so I’m really happy having him on stage with me. You get up close and personal on these.”

Amyl & The Sniffers’ sophomore album Comfort To Me is out now. Comfort To Me, which was co-produced by the band and Dan Luscombe, is the follow-up to Amyl & the Sniffers’ critically acclaimed 2019 self-titled debut album, which won Australia’s esteemed ARIA Award for Best Rock Album and saw the band tour their anarchic and ridiculously fun live show internationally for the past two years. With its lyrics largely written during the Australian Bushfire season, when The Sniffers were already wearing masks to protect themselves from smoke in the air, Comfort To Me came together in a 3-bedroom apartment where the four band members quarantined together during COVID-19 lockdown. The result is a less spontaneous and more darkly considered record that masterfully captures the essence of the band like never before. “This album is just us — raw self expression, defiant energy, unapologetic vulnerability,” says Taylor. “It was written by four self-taught musicians who are all just trying to get by and have a good time.” The record hit #1 on Billboard’s Alternative New Albums chart, #2 on both Heatseekers and Top New Artists Albums, #4 on Independent Albums, #7 on Rock Albums, #9 on Alternative Albums, and made the top 20 on the Album Sales chart. Across the pond it made BBC 6 Music’s Album of the Day and charted at #21, and on the band’s home turf it was named Triple J’s Featured Album of the Week while charting at #2.
