Lonely isn't the word for this, the latest from Zach Hood

Tik-Tok heartthrob turned mighty musical success, Zach Hood, is still soaring in 2022. His first two singles of this year, “I Miss My Friends,” and “never knew a heart could break itself,” quickly racked up millions of listens. Hood has also just come off a memorable performance at the famed Hangout Festival, which takes place in his home state of Alabama.

Now, the 20-year-old phenom is dropping “lonely isn’t the word for this,” his third single of the year.

lonely isn’t the word for this” officially drops May 27 via Arista Records.

“This song describes the feeling of total emptiness in the wake of missing someone,” shares Hood.

“You don’t just feel alone, depressed, and hopeless; you feel the extreme ends of all those adjacent emotions to the point where you almost feel nothing. It’s a new feeling to me in the song, so to show how bad it really is and how much of that feeling is tied to this girl, I say I ‘wouldn’t wish it on anyone, not even you.’

Speaking about the video Hood says, "This is definitely one of my favorite videos I've done since I became an artist. I love how it perfectly shows the beginning, middle and end of a relationship essentially at the same time. The moods change almost instantly in the same setting, and it does a really good job of showing how people can become attached sentimentally to places based on prior experiences there."

Many of Hood’s songs touch on similar themes, particularly relationships and heartbreak. But through these songs, Hood continues to show that being hyper-vulnerable is the way to make noise amongst Gen-Z fanbases that are reshaping the music industry as we know it.

Born and raised in Daphne, Alabama, Hood went from tirelessly posting content on Tik Tok to signing a record deal with Arista and landing representation from William Morris Endeavor.

Now based in Los Angeles, Hood has about 3 million monthly listeners on Spotify, with over 100 million streams across platforms. His sophomore single, “Isabelle” landed on Spotify’s Pop Rising, Rising US, US Viral 50, Global Viral 50, UK Viral 50, and Australia Viral 50 among other playlists and racked up 25+ million streams in just the first few months of release.

Hood will be the first to admit that he’s just a kid who wanted something so badly, wasn’t afraid to be vulnerable and did everything he could to get where he wanted to go. Maybe that’s what makes him so real and so relatable.

“I’m just a kid from Alabama who stayed true to himself, says Hood. “I never let anyone get in in my way, I persevered, and I stayed on my path. I just absolutely had to make music.
