#Risingartist: We got personal with Soundr from Mental health to Anime
"Mania" discusses how friends only enjoy the company of SOUNDR when it's convenient for them, but ignore the side of her that is struggling. Using her quick-witted lyrics and an understanding of pop-punk elements that spans decades, SOUNDR explores mental illness and how others perceive her in a cathartic heavy-hitting single.
She explains, "It's the feeling that part of you is always hidden or misunderstood. That maybe people only want to be around you when you are manic and ‘fun,’ but that is not all of who you are as a person."
We had the chance to chat with her about the song, mental health, plants, and even anime. Check out the video above to learn more about her and check out her song to the left of us (or above on mobile)
More About SOUNDR:
SOUNDR influenced by the term “sonder” paints her truth within the lines of sensational lyrical tactics and lively sonic elements in her compositions. Growing up in Salt Lake City, Katherine Thomas has built her musical foundation on the basis of duality. The acknowledgment that everything in life carries heaviness and beauty - the balance of feeling everything and nothing, all at once. SOUNDR fully immersed her talents into creating an outlet for those who feel misunderstood or alone, to provide the next generation of misfits with space where they belong.
