It's here! Olivia O'Brien dropped off Episode Pt 1!
Olivia O’Brien, the Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter with over 3 billion global streams, has released part one of her sophomore album ‘Episodes’ today via Island Records. ‘Episodes Pt. 1’ is a collection of six songs with a cinematic intensity, encompassing everything from high-drama intrigue to the dark thrill of classic horror. Listen to the album here.
‘Episodes Pt. 1’ features lead single “Sociopath,” which has amassed over 4.9 million streams and was featured on over 40 New Music Friday playlists on Spotify plus “Pop Rising” and Apple Music’s “New Music Daily” in multiple territories. In addition to “Sociopath,” part one of ‘Episodes’ includes “No More Friends,” a wildly cathartic anti-love song that shows O’Brien’s affinity for pop-punk with its snarling guitar riffs and explosive chorus featuring Bring Me the Horizon’s Oli Sykes. See below for full track-listing.
Along with her sophomore album, Olivia is gearing up to head out on a North American headlining tour this fall, “The Olivia O’Brien Show” which will feature Upsahl and drumaq as support. The tour includes stops at Los Angeles’ The Fonda Theater, two nights at New York City’s Webster Hall and more (see below for full routing). All tickets for rescheduled 2020 dates (except Detroit) will be valid for the new date; additional tickets for all shows go on sale today at 10am local time at oliviaobrienmusic.com/tour. In addition to her headlining tour, Olivia will also perform at Lollapalooza and Bottle Rock Festivals this summer.
‘Episodes’ is the follow up to Olivia’s 2019 debut album, ‘Was It Even Real?’ Olivia first made a name for herself as an artist to watch when she collaborated with Gnash on their 5-times platinum 2016 hit “i hate u, i love u,” which has amassed over 2 billion streams to date, including over 1 billion streams on Spotify and over 580 million views on the song’s official video. She was named one of PAPER’s “100 Women Revolutionizing Pop Music” and in 2019, released her debut album in ‘Was It Even Real?’ Last year, Olivia saw viral success once again with the tongue-in-cheek revenge anthem “Josslyn.” Laced with Olivia’s signature poetic vulnerability and comedic vulgarity, the song has been streamed over 125 million times to date. Her viral streaming success has also helped propel her huge social media following (over 1.4 million followers on Instagram, over 1.3 million Tik Tok followers and over 36.4 million likes on her page).
