New music from Kid Bloom, check it out

Kid Bloom, the visionary young Los Angeles-based singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist who described his landmark 2020 BLOOD SUGAR EP as “a culmination of emotions, thoughts, and insecurities,” moves closer to the completion of his next long-play project with the release of "CONTROL," his brand new single + video available today via Island Records.

In a fractured and challenging year, Kid Bloom established his own unique musical domain – neon production, hip-hop beat-work, and psychedelic guitar emissions revolving around confessional lyrics flowing with unfiltered honesty – unveiled over the course of four distinct single + visualizer releases from the BLOOD SUGAR EP.

Kid Bloom staked his claim with "Wounded/Surrounded," his major-label debut on Island, and the first track released off the EP. Slick synths and sparse bass entwined with 808s for a glitchy beat, his voice ringing out with one revelation after another (“I get so lost in my devotion”). "Sledgehammer" conjured a “dreamy quality” as it nodded to ’70s pop love songs. "Blood Sugar," the title track, checked diabetes that has been with him since age 16 (“my inner demon”), inhabiting lush soundscapes akin to the soundtrack of your favorite ’80s film. "In One Ear" featuring Jesse Rutherford of the Neighbourhood, was the final release from the EP. The tongue-in-cheek Diego Andrade-directed video was a vintage-style visualizer that showed Kid Bloom and Rutherford competing in an athletic showdown for the ages: a tennis match-high up in the hills of Los Angeles.

"Hold In, Hold On," released in November, meshed a funky bass line, acoustic guitar, and Kid Bloom’s dreamy vocals into a catchy, upbeat earworm; a light and airy and calming release that made for the perfect indie-pop bop. The song was the first of his next new batch of compositions that, with today’s release of "CONTROL," point the way forward for this remarkably talented artist.
