Hi,

Just wanted to stop by and express my thank you to those who follow this small magazine. With audiences from across the country and around the world, I’m always excited to see and meet new people. This maybe small but over the last year on our own, I’ve learn so much and grateful to what has been brought to the table. As today is National Women’s Day and seeing how not many know who I am, so this would be a great time to provide that information.

My name is Taylor Ohryn, I am from a small town north of Ann Arbor, Michigan. I have been photographing music for little over eight years. How I got into the music industry was via a American Author’s radio Meet and Greet. I still remember the day, I had won tickets for my little sister and found out about their radio show M&G. Decided it would be a good idea to give my sister the whole first concert experience and drove down to a bar where the the radio show M&G would be. Along with bring my sister, I had also brought my first “adult” camera with me, Nikon J1 Compact DSLR.

Photographing the M&G experience, I was asked by Zac Barnett if I was planing on photographing the show. At that time, I thought you had to be a journalist for the newspaper or Rolling Stones Magazine to do what he was telling me. He even mention about a photo pass, however I didn’t know how to get it nor thought I needed to worry since I got approval from the band. From that experience, I would smuggle my camera into as many shows as I can afford to. It wasn’t until I was asked by a Canadian online magazine to photograph their shows, that I finally fit in with the rest of the photographers in the photo pit.

The idea to launch Hashtag Magazine was a Tumblr dream. I was part of a Tumblr group at the time excited to showcase what we had photographed that week or months to come. What was once a showcase turn into a “magazine”, even if it was still a photo gallery. This continue on for I want to say three years. After the Verizon purchased Tumblr, half of the community leaving in due part of their new rules, this included must of the people in the Tumblr group.

With this in mind, I thought about creating a new website for showcase. Seeing that I was going solo on this, I decided to bring some of the elements that I learn from Tumblr into this magazine. The first year on it’s own platform has been nothing but an adventure, and seeing how the anniversary date was a couple weeks ago, is only fitting. I look forward to more adventures and hopefully will be bringing more people on the Hashtag Team.
