Chiiild, the category-defying band from Montreal, has shared a new single off their forthcoming EP. The track, "Back To Life" features Zimbabwean artist, songwriter, poet and activist Shungudzo. The song is "a metaphor, a fantasy that life is just practice and somehow in the future, we can get a second shot at this." Shungudzo expands on this, saying "Chiiild and I wrote "Back To Life" on the day we met. We really bonded over being African artists who want to use music to tell stories about diversity, ask questions about humanity, and unify people over shared personal experiences. All of these themes are embedded in the lyrics of our song, and Chiiild's music really compliments it, being so uniquely genre-bending yet still somehow reminiscent of something you've heard, or felt, before."

With "Back to Life" and their previously released "Count Me Out," Chiiild manages to create a sound that is retro-future chill out r&b meets psychedelic, equally inspired by D'Angelo as it is Tame Impala. Stream "Back to Life" ft Shungudzo HERE. Their debut project Synthetic Soul is set to drop Fall 2019 via indie tastemaker collective Avant Garden (THEY., Emotional Oranges, Slenderbodies).

The band will head out next Saturday on a North American tour with label mates Emotional Oranges. The tour begins in Vancouver, BC on September 14th at the Vogue Theatre followed by shows at LA's Fonda Theatre, NYC's Brooklyn Steel and Chicago's Metro. See all tour dates below. Chiiild already have a long list of impressive collaborations, spanning from working on a Grammy award winning Jack Ü album with Skrillex and Diplo to Usher, Jacob Banks, Allie X and more.
